Also, available in a colour other than red. This one certainly looks nice

It sure does, thanks for sending this on.

I didn’t think there would be cars on other sites that were no on PistonHeads

It was on Pistonheads from June last year until mid-March. Listed by Preston Classics at £87,999 (having initially asked £97k). In fact, it is still on their website www.prestonclassicsltd.com/testarossa

Thanks for that.

I feel the iconic 80’s Ferrari has to be red? :-)

I REALLY like the one that Classic & Sportscar Centre have, however I think it is a little over priced? Thoughts?

Definitely cast your net wider, I've bought and sold a lot of cars over the last 20 odd years and not one has come or gone through a Pistonheads ad.

Thanks Dinoboy, I would have presumed that while cars are advertised elsewhere, they would be added to PistonHeads to catch potential customers there too.

Any other sites worth reviewing?

I have bought a couple of cars off James before and almost bought this one. I think it ticks all the boxes. I only backed out due to other commitments, still tempted! Have you actually spoken to James about it? Its worth a call.

It depends whether you prefer a car from a dealer or a private sale also. I prefer a private sale with cars like this as you get to meet the owner which I think is really important.
Both Ferrari's I purchased from private sellers, the gt4 was an older chap who'd owned it for years and actually had it on autotrader as he didn't even know what a forum was. About as unlikely a thing to find on autotrader as you can get you would think but if I hadn't looked on there I'd never of found it.
There's also cars that never even make it to the market as there sold through club or forum contacts etc.
Might be worth joining Ferraichat or similar and reading through recent threads there as owners will often say there thinking of selling in the future but car isn't yet on the market.

Thanks Jonny, I spoke with Andrew this morning, and plan to view the car tomorrow.

Do you know if it has been on the market long? It's a little on the pricey side, so hoping to see if the condition and servicing stacks up to the price.

Think it was the end of March. Good luck and from what I have seen I think you will like it. I believe the guy who owned it before only bought the best examples of cars and this formed part of his small collection on the channel islands.

I would add that my view is with these cars is that you should buy the very best example you can.

Autotrader have about 900 Ferraris sales listings each week and that's broadly the same as Pistonheads. Obviously there's a lot of overlap but plenty of people still think of Autotrader (and Top Marques) first when they're buying or selling.

I don't have the advantage of having seen that particular car but I cannot believe it is the best example. It hasn't been properly driven or serviced in its entire life and is stupidly overpriced now. If you just want to look at it then maybe it would be fine but the listing shows you the kind of bill you're storing up by not using or servicing it properly.

Yes you need to use them but how many of them are actually used. Also when you come to sell, who will want a high mileage example?

My thinking was that while the car wasn't used a lot before the large bill, the fact that it has had so much work done to recondition it, would make it one of the better cars to buy?

Well I'm not looking to buy this car but for me the difference with this one is that it appears to have long periods of not being used or serviced at all. It is much more usual to see low mileages but reasonably consistent and with consistent servicing to go with it.

@Jtremlett - thanks, it's a valid point.

I've noticed there are a lot of Testarossa's going for auction. I presume you need a Tan number or to be a dealer to bid on these type of auctions?

You might want to get in touch with John Pogson at Italia Autosport.

He may know of one or two examples that may not be publicly for sale...

Thank, I'll give him a shout in the morning.

Can anyone confirm how often the Cam Belt needs to be changed? I've read 5 years and 3 years.
