Hi All,

I am looking for a little assistance with my Gallardo LP 570-4 please...

I'd like to think it's not just me that finds it a little difficult to read the speedometer given the fonts and size of the digits used and this is when driving in the UK. I'm making the annual trip to Le Mans and will be taking the snot-rocket and despite owning this car for a number of years, it's never been a big enough issue for me to address.

However, I have the car out of storage and I looked at the kilometres digits - they are so tiny, it's a bit of a joke especially given the amount of speed enforcement undertaken by our French neighbours. I could use my phone to display the speed, but the other day I was pressing the buttons on the dash and my speed was displayed at the top of the digital display (where it normally says ESC-SPORT etc) and the number looked like a speeding sign in a font large enough to read! This was part of a cycle of displays in the top part of the digital dash display.

I have tried to set this via the right-hand stalk with the little button on the bottom and the toggle on the end, but have only found a speed warning with an "mph over" option in the menu.

I have also searched online including the first port of call (uTube), but I have found nothing. My questions are as follows:

1. Does anybody know how to display "current speed" on an ongoing basis in the digital section of the dash?
2. Can this display be changed to km/h?
3. Does anybody have an alternate option? (I suspect this will trigger the usual PH list of funny responses)

Many thanks

1. No, it's not possible (you've been looking at the options to set a speed limit warning).
2. No (see 1.).
3. Use a phone or stand along sat nav unit?

I also find it odd not being able to display the speed digitally (in either mph or km/h) . Especially as the centre display in my Audis looks very similar and obviously can.

Is there a way of re-programming the display to show real time speed? The computer must know how fast you are going for the speed warning and the required LCD panel is already there.

It is not that difficult to remember of a few key speeds:

You will presumably mainly be on Autoroutes.

110kmh = 70 ish mph
130kmh = 80 ish mph

On most A Roads

90kmh = 55 ish mph

If you remember those three alone you should be fine.

Long shot but:

The VW Scirocco has this same issue but if you code the clock set as Canadian (they use MPH) you can have a digital speedo displayed on the Driver Information System.

I know the above works as I had this done to my sons 2011 Scirocco 1.4 TSi.

Someone must have been able to do this as Audi hide loads of info in their dash configuration software but hide it from the user so you need VAGCOM or similar to access these codes..

Might be worth asking Ricky Elder at RE Performance?

That's what prompted my original post.

Whilst I can use my phone or remember key readings, when I used the little black circular buttons on the lower right-hand side of the speedo binnacle, one of the displays it cycles through is a current digital speed read out that looks like a speed enforcement sign; this is really easy to read.

When I have collected other vehicles from main dealer servicing in the past, I have noticed the interior displays have been set to functions not available via the usual menus; I’d guess these are hidden from user access.

I'll give the Canadian setting a go and see what happens, but I leave this afternoon, so may not have time to feed back.

Thanks all
