Hi everyone

I was set on a Manual, but the number of E-Gears out there is forcing me to reconsider.

I will have to parallel park the Gallardo on the road every time I drive it. I had a Maserati 4200, and it was quite the ball-ache doing this as it would suddenly jumo.

It was so much easier in my manual Aston.

I just wondered if the Post LP cars E-Gear reversing and parallel parking was ok from a car control point of view?

My concern is the car jumping whilst trying to parallel park.

Thanks

Hi - thanks.

Parallel Parking an E-Gear post LP car.

Questions, with E-Gear on a LP560:

- Can you hold the car stationery using the accelerator?

- Can you gently inch by inch reverse?

- I've heard the stock reverse camera image is not great, can it be upgraded?

- Does the car have Hill Hold, i.e. after removing your foot from the brake, will the brake remain depressed to avoid it rolling backwards?

- If you select Reverse and do not start moving soon after, will the car automatically go back into Neutral?

Thanks all

Can you hold the car stationery using the accelerator? You don’t need the accelerator, Once a gear is selected (1 or R when stationery), it will automatically hold in position until it receives a positive input via the accelerator.

- Can you gently inch by inch reverse? yes, but it’s not completely Audi-fied, it’s tricky to do this and be smooth.

- I've heard the stock reverse camera image is not great, can it be upgraded? Never had an issue - it’s not HD 4K OLED quality, but it’s always been good enough for me. I think you’d need to replace the whole system unless someone on one of the Audi forums has hacked RNS-E ?

- Does the car have Hill Hold, i.e. after removing your foot from the brake, will the brake remain depressed to avoid it rolling backwards? no, but it will hold position as above. Please note, inching forwards or backwards & reversing uphill are probably the biggest factors to influence clutch wear. It’s not disastrous on LP cars, but there are ways to ensure longevity.

- If you select Reverse and do not start moving soon after, will the car automatically go back into Neutral? I think it’s either 20 or 30 seconds before it does.

inching forward and back in my 2008 SL is difficult, I park it close to my RS and i always roll it forward or back is it tends to jump/move quickly using the egear, so I basically park it withing about 2 feet and then just roll it into position, (it does need to be about 6 inches away to get the garage door closed though)/

However there is a cure. the speed at which the clutch takes up, i.e the amount of slip the clutch allows before fully engaging can be adjusted (by dealer) or a good indy. The more slip, the more wear but the easier it is to shift back and forward in first or reverse.

Mine is obviously set to take up quickly and its absolutely fine for normal driving but wouldnt like to park it in a tight spot. (original egear clutch at 17.5k miles and now 50% worn).

my 360 and scuderia had more slip before the clutch took up and they were much easier to nudge forward. but in reverse on a hill you can smell the £sssss rubbing away as the clutch slips.

regards
Scott.

Nope but you can put your foot on the brake and apply the accelerator when needed. Or just put it into N and press the brake. Actually it might, I just always hold the brake pedal down.

Yes you can put it's not easy as it seems, well to me, you need to be delicate. If you do it on hills though expect some clutch wear

Not had any trouble with mine. And I have to reverse my car as close to the back wall as possible.

I just slip it into to netrual and press the brake. You need to set off with some purpose though.

Apparently it does. Never sat in reverse long enough to check though.

Basically you just drive the E-Gear like you would a manual. It's actually greaty fun and as he pedals are perfectly set for left foot braking it all just makes way more sense than a manual.
