I am after some Pistonhead knowledge and opinions please?
I am currently looking for a high performance spyder. I currently have a Ferrari F12 which will be staying but I have the itch to add a spyder to the garage. As the F12 will be staying put and no other convertible Ferrari's really taking my fancy I have narrowed my search down to the following.
Mclaren 720S Spyder
Lamborghini Huracan Performate Spyder
The main issue I have is head room which obviously isn't a huge factor when the roof is off but it won't be off all the time with the unpredictable English weather. I am just under 6 foot 5 and although I have sat in a 720s coupe which surprised me at the amount of head space in there I just keep coming back to the Lamborghini but I am 90% sure I will struggle to fit. Obviously the best way to find out would be to go to a Lamborghini dealer and take one for a test drive but that isn't feasible at the moment so is there any current owners out there who maybe able to give me any advice on the above?

Yes that's my thinking but nothing else really does it for me, love the Aston's but I think I am a bit young and they just don't have the same impact as a Ferrari/Lambo/Mclaren etcB3NJY said:

Baldrick from Blackadder solved the problem of his mother's low ceiling by chopping off her head?But being serious, I'd go for the 720s with a sports exhaust. Have you discounted a 458/488 spyder?
What are your must haves? Public attention OK? Loudness? On going maintenance costs?
Public attention is a definite no no. I don’t drive cars for attention I actually don’t like it, but I do love cars. I miss the fun of a soft top and the drama a supercar without a roof puts on my face.

Drive the McLaren then make up your mind about whether you like them, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Not many will walk away unimpressed but a Spider has a lot of money to lose quite quickly in the current climate and when we're all free again so might be a consideration.

I’ve had a Perf Spyder for around 7months now, absolutely fabulous car but I’ve got to admit there isn’t a lot of headroom and I’m only a short arse. You’d win some room with sports buckets but I’m not really sure they make sense in a open top.
That said Clarkson drove the coupe around and loved it, and he’s a tall bloke so perhaps it’s about what shape you are.

My recommendation, I did seriously consider the Performante, two things put me off - the formica style chopped carbon everywhere, coupled with the inevitable depreciation.
I ended up with the McLaren 675LT spider above. It had suffered huge depreciation, in the hands of the first owner, but is one of only 500 and the reviews are unbelievable. Worth a Google to watch some, Chris Harris’ is typical. I also considered a Ferrari 488, but having owned a number of decent cars, I am very happy with the McLaren. As well as being rare, they can be relatively low key in certain colours (unlike a Performante) or very bold if you prefer. Superb driver’s car and a very good social scene with owners of McLarens in general and 675s in particular. If you are anywhere near Salisbury or the New Forest you are welcome to come and check mine out - not for sale, but you are welcome to pop over for a chat and a view and a spin post lockdown!

Or if you want a completely different experience, how much does an 8C Spider cost nowadays - much prettier than the current crop of cars imo.
Or maybe a 430 16m, I think there is a stunning white LHD one for sale in the UK (I think belongs/belonged to a Pistonheads member, possibly AndrewD)
Or for a little more, one of my favourite convertibles - a 550 Barchetta - V12, manual - would be a perfect complement to your F12
