@Stuart,

none of the filters work on my iPhone, as I cannot get the screen large enough for my thumbs to work on them, or long enough until it timeouts again and again and again.... Hence using the pc & mac for the forum, however, why is it the pics don't open on a mac? Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is it because I'm behind a firewall?

Are you using mobile site, or full fat?

<I can't be of any help, but it may help the techies?>

On mine, on classifieds it switches automatically to the classified.pistonheads.com instead of mobile.pistonheads.com

Can't get on the mobile site via classifieds, even if I type in the link... it may be an iOS 5 & 6 problem? (had it on my old iPhone too).

On the mobile site the new classifieds platform won't redirect to mobile.pistonheads.com.

We have a mobile site in build, but for the time being your big thumbs will need to manage.

As for the images not appearing on Mac, do you have an adblock running? You don't need to disable it, but it might be worth adding an exception for classifieds.pistonheads.com

Matt, Stuart

given that screen real estate is a at a premium (I looked at the site at 1024x768 and you can't even see a car or the categories without scrolling) you could implement something like this (it needs prettying!)

<style>
div.floating-menu {position:fixed;bottom:10px;right:6px;background:#f ff4c8;border:1px solid #ffcc00;width:100px;}
div.floating-menu a, div.floating-menu h3 {display:block;margin:0 0.5em;}
</style>
<div class="floating-menu">
<a href="#"><b><center>Goto Top</center></b></a>
</div>

Hi Stuart,

Not sure if this has been covered already. Sorry for not reading the whole thread.

I've got an ad up at the moment, and IMHO, it looks ace... in the old format.

I used a load of wiki formatting (== for section heads, * for bullets etc). The new site has stripped it all out. It looks like it was written by an illiterate who doesn't know to use paragraphs, or spaces after a full stop.

Good
Bad (Even the old url is easier to remember...)

Please give me my formatting back!!!

(Yes I know its a free ad site, and I'm sure there are very good technical reasons why the new site is going to be better. I just hope the formatting tags make it into the new version soon.)

ETA: It also has the year of my car down as '84. It says '83 in the logbook. I think. It's also not a 1.3. It's a 1275. Not a big thing, but I'm selling it on PH because it's a specialist car site, for what I think is a specialist car (or at least one with niche appeal). A 1.3 mini in a mini-nut's mind is more likely to be a 1293cc or a 1340cc, or most likely a 1.3i. None of these describes the engine in my car.

There are a number of potential things that could block it, the @ symbol for one. If you email the text to support@pistonheads.com I'll tell you what's wrong with it chap.

Yes, the @ symbol was the issue in mileage/date part. Everything else went smoothly after that hiccup.

Now fixed thanks to Luke on phone service but thanks for your reply here also. thumbup

It's there because it is the numero uno method scammers use to outwit our tools for alerting potential victims when we identify a scam ad, so it's a necessary evil I'm afraid.

We could be clearer with our text saying this though, and we're working on that.

Hi Stuart - I have to say that I think that you are Fielding the various issues well.
I noticed a message from a Kent car dealer appears to have been withdrawn. Was it because it was not the appropriate forum re the issues being discussed?
Cheers

Thanks. Comes with the territory, and the more feedback we get the quicker we can resolve issues. The team are working really hard to deal with the (comparatively small) number of issues, and fixes are either already or soon to be deployed for most.

Yes, I've sorted out KMC's issues seperately. We've a sales team specifically to deal with car dealers, so I took that post down as I didn't want the thread to be derailed by it.

His issue with image upload seems to be the same as another user's, so hopefully we've got that resolved now. The other issue he was experiencing (changing the price of stock) was affected by that restriction on the @ symbol in text, and it has also been changed.

At present that dealer only has three cars up on PH because of the issues he's been experiencing, so hopefully now we can get more of his stock live for him.

Hi Stuart I used to be in the same line of business as you both In Print and Online so I really do understand your position - great in it!
But on a more serious note I really think that the Dealer concerned needs either more stock on PH or a stronger profile format after all he is in a massive market and I know that for the smaller "middle of the road" dealers stand out can be and is difficult. That's why I helped to developed profile options geared to the size of the business - all paid for you understand.
Anyway keep on keeping on!
Cheers
Steve

Hi,
Is there a reason why the new and old classifieds have different content? It is more than a bit awkward especially as my browser now links directly to the new version.
As an example on the old version there is a newly posted yellow 996t but its nowhere to be seen on the new version.
Can't say I'm warming to the new version - I don't trust it to show me all the cars available.

Do you have a link to the car on the old site?

Nope, you're not missing something. Hmm. OK, we'll investigate.
