got to agree with that mr rs500 i dont browse on it anymore its just too much hassle, every page that loads you have to reclic before the arrow buttons on the keypad will work,i think at some point the amount of lost users will replace the insistance that it can be made to work

Sadly i have now let all my trade adverts finish and will not be using this website anymore

I never thought i would say this but ebay is now the place to advertise

Pistonheads has taken away the ease of use for browsing and using it to advertise

The new system is far to complicated and the new look is no where near as nice as the old one

What a shame as i found it a great website to use or simply just browse for fun

It's a shame but it's going to take more traders like yourself to do this to make the people here realise that they really are flogging a dead horse with this new format.

No-one likes it, the only half decent thing is the search filters but the new VRN auto complete appears to be adding nonsense that makes them useless.

Also, configuring the pages so you HAVE to turn off your ad-block to view the cars for sale?

It's a real chame as the PH classfieds used to be great but in all honesty they are a joke and I can see advert numbers in the areas I look at dropping daily. Soon to be followed by me! What a shame. frown

I have to say, on top of my comments about the image quality I agree the site is not as good as it used to be.

I have sold one car on PistonHeads but would debate if I would use it again. I also used to surf the classified's for hours just for the fun of it but the new layout just isn't as good to use so have hardly used it since the changes.

Please revert back to the old style.

The old style is gone, and won't ever be coming back.

We are going to continue to make changes in response to feedback from users though, so I'm interested in a couple of the comments about having to reclick to make the arrow buttons work, and also about the VRN causing data issues. On this last point, links to specific cars where you're seeing this would be useful.

The adblock fix was deployed a couple of days ago. Whilst we'd obviously prefer it if you didn't, you can adblock away to your heart's content and it won't affect the way you see ads on the site.

What a palaver to use this new format
For example I'm in the market for a Porsche 911 , 964 or 993 .
Click on used cars , go to P for Porsche . All Porsche models appear , click on 964 and newest with images appears . There's still the option to go back to Porsche at this point . Change anything in the choices options , say to date added and that option to go back to Porsche disappears , So if I want to look at 993's I have to go back to the start . Used cars , P for Porsche , 993's . Newest with images again , change that to date added or anything else and the option to go back to Porsche disappears again .
How long do you think people are going to put up with this constant resetting on all the options , the postcode being lost , the price choices, etc . As soon as you change from newest with images the only way back from that is back to used cars .
What happened to locations in the adverts being visible directly , why isn't it by date added like it used to be . Don't mention I can choose that option because then as soon as I want to look at anything but that specific choice I have to go all the way back to beginning used cars , P for Porsche .

Before if I had an hour to browse on Pistonheads I'd probably look at 6 times as many cars , now it's world of clicking and options and general unfriendliness .
This new format really isn't an improvement . You might think it's the beesknees with choices for this and choices for that but the basic ease of use has gone .

You can browse in exactly the same way that you used to and either ignore the filters altogether or just add them Very sparingly. confused

Consider e other side to that argument - I wouldn't buy via eBay if you paid me.

That isnt exactly a great point to make because pistonheads have been told time and time again by its users and its customers that the new system isnt liked yet they are just stubborn and chose to ignore it

Iam no way a fan of ebay ,but it does now have a big following , and pistonheads is getting smaller by the day

you only have to look at how many adverts there are now compared to a year ago , the facts are there

Im not the only trader that feels this way , a good friend of mine who also paid for the 50 adverts per month package has also stopped advertising with PH

That's not strictly true. There are clearly some people who don't like it, but don't forget that we've been running this in beta since April, there are plenty of PHers who've been testing it (and liking it) and the design that you see today is substantially different to the one we released last year thanks to all the feedback from PHers.

It isn't a finished job yet, and we know that there are things we need to improve upon (and we have a list of those already in response to comments here). So I hope that the last thing we can be accused of is being stubborn. We've spent the whole year listening intently to everything people have said about the site, good and bad.

Ultimately we also have to look at what the data says about how people are using the new site. So far, it's all looking pretty good.

How is it not a valid point? You said you were moving to eBay. As a potential customer, I'm saying I wouldn't touch eBay. I would, however, use a dedicated website if you had one.

Secondly, to say PH is stubborn and ignoring comments are ignorant at best. It is quite clear there has been continued development - there are numerous threads to support this.

I seem to recall a post from Stuart explaining the reasons for the change. The old system was broken, it had to change. It was a legacy system that could not cope. PH were in a position of change it, or risk it going down - both would cause aggravation for advertisers.

For reference, I do not work for PH.

Just run through this process, how about having the Porsche in the selection box as a hyperlink to take you back to the start?

If you click on Porsche then have a date starting from the 964 and ending with the 993 (1990-1996?) and click 'rear engine' the search only brings up 993's and 964's and you can view them as you see fit without having to go back out of search results. smile
Or click on Porsche 964, then click on "browse make and model" and select "993" or Kia Picanto, or whatever takes your fancy, click done and they all appear in your search result.

I'm not a regular browser and haven't noticed any change in functionality for just having a look, but as someone who's bought via PH it's a vast improvement on the old site IMO and with far more PH orientated search options.

I'm genuinely amazed at the guy who's planning to stop selling via PH and use ebay.

I don't recall saying you weren't entitled to your opinion.

Cant comment on the prices, but interested to know how they compare to eBay & PayPal.

Yes, already flagged up elsewhere cheers. thumbup

It appears to be an anomaly around the way in which our data source classifies this particular model (briefly describable as "not as the manufacturer intended") which appears to mainly affect this and certain 4wd Audis. We have a fix on the way.

Any reason all the Porsche stuff hasn't been updated for 2 days? At least that's what the model listing says.
Also there were nearly 100 996t on the old system and now we are down to 76 ish. Is there a simple reason for this (could just be suddenly fewer cars for sale but unlikely I feel)

Congratulations - you've spotted that the service which runs that page had stalled. Now restarted (and fixed) so it shows correctly that there have been new cars in the last hour.

A couple of reasons, but mostly because the new site doesn't by default show sold cars, and is just better all round at being accurate about how many cars were for sale - the old site just wasn't.

So the homepage shows the total car count at 80,000 right now, but if you tick the little box which says "show sold cars" that number jumps to 111,000. That ratio is no different now to how it has always been, but we just think it's more useful to show the actual number of cars for sale, rather than letting all the sold stuff get in the way.

It was very easy before to look at the motorsport items in the classifieds.... seems now to have gone backwards, sadly a PITA now.
