Are you lot looking at something different to me?

The old classifieds list vehicles by make and model, with a number in brackets stating how many adverts there are.

New classfieds have a search engine at the top, with a list of vehicles by make and model, with a number in brackets stating how many adverts there are.

confused
Then click last 24hours,you can't browse like you can on the old one
Where is last 24 hours on the old one?

All adverts, click last 24 hours, then a list of all cars posted in the last 24 hours comes up,you can then browse the new list clicking on a car/part that takes your fancy.

Never knew that was there! hehe

There's a thread for feedback. Seems to me just creating a list view in the new classifieds would achieve the same.

The only thing that irks me applies to both the old and new versions...

The number of bloody "This item has been sold on Pistonheads classifieds" ads that remain on after they're sold! If they're sold then take the bloody things off! biggrin

For what it's worth if there is a significant requirement for a specific "view" of the data we can and will cater for that. After all we have all the data we had before (actually we have a lot more data than we had before) but if you as users think that we have missed a vital function of the old classifieds then do please let us know and as long as we see that it was used function on the old (or there's enough support for it to be added) we will action that.

We can present the data in virtually any manner we wish, of course that does require some work. But it's all do-able.

The sold items should only ever appear at the "end" of a listing for a make/model and meant more as an indication that things have happened and information to potential customers who may have been watching it.

If you have a functional issue with the new layouts. Please let us know is Website Feedback and we'll take a look.

Genuinely we have done this because the old classifieds IS on it's last legs.
There are massive technical issues to do with the databases and technologies that the system is built on. It is unable to cater for the level of use it gets. This has impacted on the speed of the site for everyone. The forums have slowed, the classifieds and news sites are all connected.

I was a PHer before I started working here and I genuinely prefer the new system (obviously I am now a mouth piece of the company etc etc). I was looking for a commuter car before so the MPG filter was useful, even if it didn't bring up THE car that I wanted. It flagged up makes and models that I had perviously not considered as a "efficient commuter" (for instance there's some 40-50mpg alfa's) I however ended up with a MGB...

Are you looking for a straight up list of the ad's posted on PH in the last 24 hours?

If so, http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use... this is a list of all the ads put on in the last 24 hours, as linked from the home of the main classifieds.

Or is that not what you're looking for?

I see Steve's point.

Ideally you want something like Windows Explorer or Mac Finder:

  • list view, no pictures
  • small thumbnails, some detail
  • larger pictures and more detail
  • full blown ads

Just takes much much longer to switch from Porsche to Aston. As an example, every little thing you press the page has to reload, making the whole site slow and very hard to use on a ipad.

I really dislike it.

+1. Some are 4 months old , does my head in as do traders who spam 40 adds in a section list cars for sale at £1 but don,t even have a car in stock.

Thanks for the feedback on this. Some good points raised which we'll look at.

Most (if not all) of the functionality of the old site is there though. It's unfamiliar at present if you've just started using it, and PH classifieds have looked the same for a long time.

We're going to continue to make gradual changes in response to constructive feedback but fundamentally this is the way the classifieds are going to look from now on.

I don't understand your comment. Where are you looking through 3,000 pictures?

Apologies for not understanding, but we have 4 different views for the classifieds. If you're seeing nothing but photos, why not switch from the thumbnail view to the list view?

Steve,

We can get this done I'm sure. I'll be honest - there aren't many people who've asked for it before now so it probably hasn't been prioritised over some of the bigger jobs we needed to get done after the last launch.

However it is useful functionality so we'll add it to the list of things to look at now that we've got the lumpy stuff done.

+1 completely useless on ipad. Such a pain, when it was a piece of cake before.

I don't mind the new layout for browsing, IMO they have just added the search/filter to the top. still behaves like the original to me.

however, the only gripe I have, and for bedtime reading (browsing) it is annoying, when moving pages, any page, a cursor automatically goes into the 'keywords' box, which on a tablet automatically brings up the keyboard.

why does this need to happen?

Droid/Firefox if it makes a difference.
