Opening front page articles on my iPad today gives me hideously pixelated images (Motorsport on Monday a and the MX-5 one for example), between that and the comments being upside down its actually easier to browse this site via the forum at the moment.

Is it still happening today?

And I am not sure what you mean by the forum commenting - it is in chronological order from first poster to fifth poster and stays fixed... ??

Yes the photos still look terrible in today's articles, very pixelated.

The comments were appearing newest first, which is kind of the opposite to how most people would presumably normally read them.

The comments did start that way but we changed it a few weeks ago, so they are now the correct way round.

Will power up the iPad again and see what is happening with images.

Still seeing horribly pixelated images on my iPad by the way, as an example the Clio article today, some of the track shots look ok but the close-up/static shots are horrible.

Just thought I'd bump this thread re the pictures on an iPad being blurred or out of focus when embedded in the article. Liked the OP, it's been like this for a while now, but the latest Ferrari article and the graphs have reached a new level of blurryness.it's as though the page is trying to upscale a thumbnail image rather than pull the hi-res image from the server.

That's exactly what's going on. It's using http://images.pistonheads.com/nimg/32253/Ferrari_4...

rather than http://images.pistonheads.com/nimg/32253/Ferrari_4...

The problem is the layout has been changed to be 'responsive' so the larger version of the image needs to be used.

On a laptop/desktop that image shows as a thumbnail to the left of the text (if you turn your ipad landscape it may do the same thing). The story writers need to get rid of the thumbnails and use the full size versions, the desktop view will shrink them down as needed.

Just to confirm it doesn't matter which way the tablet it turned, portrait or landscape, the pics are the same thumbnail images, Matt.

So, PH tech bods, any thoughts on getting rid of the thumbnails?

Not giving up on this! A number of images in the Nurburgring testing article, for today's example.

Thanks for the feedback folks, this issue is now in the hands of the PH developers and should be resolved shortly

7 months later, still borderline unviewable images in news articles. As an example, every single image in the McLaren 570S article looks like pixel art.

Yup still happening, every image after the first in the Motorsport on Monday article, for example.
