Hi James -

Any news from this meeting?
Cheers.
Hi,

Yep, one of the members of the Dev / Product development teams is writing up a summary that will be shared here.

Thanks

JD
Are they suffering from writer's block?

I've had numerous issues when trying to use this shower on mobile (only when I really need to). One of which is empty thread titles in the list and the other is 'nothing to see here' when clicking on threads. I don't have any screenshots for examples I'm afraid.

Every so often in the last few days I've been getting security certificate issues, the browser starts generating loads of them and the only way to stop it is to shut the browser down using task manager.

Windows 7 and IE.

I've just had that!
wouldn't let me off the screen, had to bloody get task manager open and shut things down.
What does "view certificate" say?

Just guessing, but I suspect it's an advert issue.

Only checked in to see if it's fixed...Still awful... not used PH for days now, losing interest in it as it's just too awkward stuck in mobile view. Sad to see such a good forum go down the pan.

It means you have to keep clicking and opening pages, pages then load adverts, PH gets revenue, and from speaking to someone who knows all about this type of stuff, HTTPS was basically done for this reason, to get more adverts and us clicking more, as you could put HTTPS in without changing anything on the forum.

Can only hope that they revert back to how it was, because the site is ruined.

On another note, can we move the "My Stuff" to the area where "My Mates" is, because when you request desktop site on mobile to get rid of the terrible mobile site, click My Stuff, the page jumps around and then selects "My Mates".
1. HTTPS is implemented by sites for very well publicised reasons, none of which are to "get more adverts". Doesn't sound like your mate really does know about this type of stuff.
2. It's not going to be reverted to any of the old skins.

Now, we know you love the forums (as do we) but we know they're not perfect. This is why we've decided to streamline the various "skins" (these gave PHers the ability to modify the look of the forums to their taste) that were previously available on PistonHeads, meaning that only the "GTI" one will be offered going forwards.

Those of you who were previously using the GTI skin will obviously be unaffected, but if you're moving from one of our old skins this may all look a bit different. However, all the functionality (and more!) remains,
'Hello PHers and welcome to your new look forums!'

I guess if PHTech had said 'our' i.e. 'their' forums we'd be in a much better place to be going along with it.
But because they said 'your' forums i.e. 'our' wink there's been a certain amount of unhappiness
As for 'all the functionality remains' there may be some disagreement about that too

Why not say there's been a decision to modify the forums not least due to the requirement for https and there'll be a degree of disruption for a few months particularly in mobile?
Isnt it best to be upfront?

Great progress being made then.... rolleyes

By now you could have reverted to classic and resolved whatever issue that was (apparently) stopping https working.

Instead nothing is fixed and the site still looks awful and is unusable on mobile. Still, there's been a meeting, hope the biscuits were nice.

Haymarket really need to come up with a sensible development plan and implement it properly instead of the this continuing half arsed farce.

I would pay a small sum to use PH say £10 a year or so and maybe a proper buyers club for oil / insurance etc could be set up.

Id pay ten quid a year to have no fking adverts and to stop the forced mobile site because of them!
Seriously, the people at PH HQ must have their heads up their arses if they think people are happy with this load of crap

They are never going to revert to classic. Gti is the only skin which is even vaguely responsive so I was always going to be the one they chose.

I've been using GTI on mobile and desktop since it was released and don't have any major issues with it. The lack of report button is a pain for dealing with spam and there's a few pages which haven't been updated yet (watch page, for example).

What makes it "unusable on mobile?

Pretty much everything if you happen to be using an iPhone.

Very helpful. That gives the devs so much to work from.

It's not drastically different on iPhone or Android - I use it on both..

Don't get upset. I don't see the point on repeating every mobile based issue that's been mentioned in the past 10-15 pages.
The Dev team only need to have a look back (or keep up with the thread) to see what issues people are having.

Not unusable, but the "last visit" taking you to anywhere but the last visit is bloody annoying.
eg On a thread I haven't read before, last visit usually goes to the last page.

Also: not indicating threads with new posts is poor, but having it work for some views (my stuff) and not others (what's new) looks amateurish.
As does having the landing pages for posting and watch topic be desktop, while on the mobile skin.
And the adverts (not a new problem) have far too often served up rogues (oversized, autoplaying, bad certs, etc).

Apart from that everything is peachy.

Have just tried to reply to someone else's post - but the quote button only gave me the last part of the post rather than the 1st part which is what I was wanting to reply to. Had to post the reply without the quote instead.

For some reason if you quote a post which contains quotes, you only get the bit after the last quote.
