Do we think that maybe, instead of just complaining for complainings sake, we can run with this new look, work with it for a while and then give better feedback on things that are an actual problem? Longer term, that has to be a better bet than the pitchforks and torches approach?
If I were complaining for complainings sake I would happily shut up and see how it progresses, unfortunately I can hardly read the bloody forum any more. Hence I find myself 'having' to complain. It is absolutely dreadful.
At least I will get some more work done now. Can't look at the site for more than 5 minutes without my eyes hurting. Not sure if it the colour or the stretched out text this is on a Windows 10 laptop using Chrome at 1600 x 900. My phone looks the same as it did yesterday except I can now browse The Pie and Piston as a group of forums as I did on my laptop.
With so many different responses it may be useful if posters could indicate what they're viewing on. I've got a choice of PC, iPhone, iPad and Android smartphone and would welcome any move which would make the site look the same (or even similar) across them all!.
Currently the best result seems to be on iPad (Chrome), but I can't post anything on there because I have to wait 2-3 seconds for each keystroke to register.
PC (Chrome) looks really faded and washed out and hurts my eyes after about 10 minutes!

I'm finding this all very odd. For me it's a massive improvement on all the platforms I use. Looks clean and more modern. No problems for me with quotes or colour scheme.
I seem to be in the minority.
It's called change - some don't seem to cope well with it....I seem to be in the minority.
Seriously though, I think the latest iteration is a massive step forward. Needs some further tweakage of fonts & colours, but that's relatively minor.
I don't have any issues at all with the mobile rendering on a QHD+ (2960 x 1440) screen.

I think we should give some credit to the technical dept at PH for the work done so far to drag PH into the 20th century.
How every "British" of you. It's often said that we'll clap anything !Seriously though, giving credit to someone for producing this ste is like thanking somone for letting their dog crap on your front lawn.
Not only is it unwarranted but it's quite likely to result in lots more st coming your way.

Win7 13.5" laptop using IE11 or Firefox - looks awful. The worst feature being spacing between letters and the font chosen for the 'new look'.
Win10 11.6" laptop or external 19" monitor using IE11, Firefox or Edge - looks awful. Same problems as with the other laptop.
Longblocksoftextlookalmostthisbadwithinadequatecharacterspacingandsmallspacingbetweenwords.
This 'new look' is, quite simply, totally unacceptable. Condemn the people who've inflicted it upon your loyal readership to driving Trabants until they've realised the error of their ways and restored the previous version!

Guys, with all due respect and I appreciate that you are working with issues around security that may affect how you implement the changed forum, employ a proper Graphic Designer. I.E. an arty type who understands how to make things look nice.
They may already have one of those - trouble is it can be very subjectiveWhat you want is one who knows how it looks ( and works) best to a non graphic designer
Anyway at least the ad placeholder business seems to work now without an adblocker but see my previous post about unresponsive script
