I decided to spend a few minutes playing with the styles, here's what I came up with.

This is the kind of thing I was talking about on my earlier post. I wouldn't say its perfect - I'd prefer to keep the folder icons (or similar indicator) and perhaps keep the page numbers with the thread title. The formatting above topics and replies is much better.
The most important thing though, is it looks like someone has actually thought about the layout & UI design!

Edit: PH Team - you could do with re-introducing the auto thumbnailing that the PH Classic skin had.
Not sure if it is just me seeing this but for some reason quotes don't work with my username. See this thread:

the main thing theyve sorted with this change is that its safe to leave the adverts on the page without it redrawing every couple seconds

Don`t forget those who have a good screen, good eyesight, don`t mind change and don`t usually moan yet are coming into this section for the first time to complain because the font and colours cause them eyestrain.Just because you don`t have an issue with it doesn`t mean those posting about eyestrain with the font and colour combo are making it up you know
Well - other than low-contrast - this desktop version has fixed a good many issues that 'we' were moaning about. I can live with it.
Except the font and spacing is about 20% too large now, and the 'thin' new default font face leads to contrast issues on the background tone.small trims required IMO, no doubt more easily applied once the platform is simplified & consistent.
(Viewing mostly in latest versions of firefox and safari on os.x 10.11.6 -PH renders consistently: what's wrong with it IMO is in the 'matter-of-taste category' really.
I find today's version works better for me - on a 1280x850px laptop - setting the screen rendering zoom to about 80% of actual full-size - I'm very happy with fonts at that size, and it reclaims oodles of wasted 'whitespace' as set presently.)

I've not commented on the appearance of the forum before, it seemed fine to me as it was, but logging in today I am finding the new font very awkward to read , it seems to be badly spaced with some characters having double-pixel uprights (eg lower case i and the right vertical on the H etc...) , it resembles the text results you get when you set your screen resolution to a non-standard res, and it has to scale to fit.
The colours seem fine , as is the bold font in the topic lists , but the non-bold font within topics i am finding very unpleasant.

There is something odd about it - is that the worlds biggest spacing for an apostrophe Just because you don`t have an issue with it doesn`t mean those posting about eyestrain with the font and colour combo are making it up you know

Has anyone mentioned that on any new topic you access for the first time it seems to take you to a post sometime today but it appears to be a random point in time for each thread visited.
Yes same issue here, unread thread and im going straight to a post directly below a red coloured last visit banner, but its random on how many pages of the thread I get into. Thanks for trying to improve things, I'm sure there are umpteen hidden achievements but I'm another one who's suffering eye-strain with the font style, size, colour and contrast.
If it can't be changed I'm going to have to put the iPad down after a couple of hours each night and might even end up talking with the Mrs!

In desktop mode, the comedy huge lozenge buttons are in the order "Reply", "Bookmark", and "Watch". However, if you view on a mobile device or shrink your desktop browser window to the point at which it responsively changes to mobile mode, this changes to "Bookmark", "Watch", and then "Reply".
