The simple answer is yes (new data protection laws clamping down), but we're not in a position to discuss this fully yet! I can assure you we have PH's best interests at the forefront (we don't want to cut the heart out of it, and therefore are treading very carefully!), and we'll have some more information soon.

Cheers

What the heck is a third party moderator??

Edited to add - Hmm google is providing more information and if PH are sub contracting moderation it's clear adding a cost - yet existing moderators are donating time for free - how is that squared up?

What happens when "third-party" moderators disagree with decisions of "free" moderators

Fun times possibly?

The major problem with this is third-party moderators won't be part of the community, so won't understand it either.

Will threats of hammering sausages into an annoying neighbours lawn be taken at face value or in jest in intended?

Somebody who works for an external company, hired by Haymarket to moderate these forums.

The moderation rules are set by the customer - Haymarket.

Our current mods will still be a huge part of PH, they're at the beating heart of the forums and are so knowledgeable, it would be seriously unwise on our part if we somehow shunned them.

It will be an added cost but we have no choice in it unfortunately, laws are laws! frown

Which subsection or paragraph of GDPR requires additional moderation then? Fascinated to learn things, me.

It's not additional moderation we need, we need legally contracted moderators to handle the sensitive data handling aspect of the job, and as our moderators are volunteers, we cannot reasonably ask them to sign contracts that bind them (and I don't think they would want to anyway).

Sorry all, I'm not willing to go into this any further until it's all finalised and I get the go ahead from the big guns!
