it's a red car - I honestly could not give a st about the resolution of the images on my phone or tablet it's impossible to see the differences unless you zoom in to a point where you are focusing on a small detail.

Maybe that's good enough for you but not me. Phone or tablet? Quality is horrific across ALL platforms, not just mobile. I'm not misrepresenting these imagines, compare them yourself with those from other sites and you can see the problem. You want high res images - try a photography forum

Or literally any other media outlet that has published these pictures. And that's the point, it's 2019 and one of the largest motoring sites in the UK is still just about hanging in there with a website that could from the late 90s.The site is fortunate enough to have one of the biggest and most active topic specific userbases in the UK, yet it's being run into the ground. It's not a crime to want the powers that be to do a half decent job on maintaining the site, and it being free should not mean we're happy to settle with a crappy experience. 99% of websites are free yet I can think of few as big or as monetized as PH that are anywhere near as poor or outdated.
Think how a group like Petrolicious is thriving based on high quality content. Why should PH not aspire to be able to do things to a similar level, sending journalists and photographers off to cover interesting topics and publishing new great content? Its frustrating because it feels like that should easily be within reach for a site like PH.

As stated earlier, it's why I don't bother getting my motoring news here, I go elsewhere.
Any 'saving' from using compressed, horrifically-artefact-riddled pictures isn't even worth wasting time on. There is no excuse for the utter crap they deliver.

They need all the bandwidth for all the crappy virus-infested adverts they're pushing.Any 'saving' from using compressed, horrifically-artefact-riddled pictures isn't even worth wasting time on. There is no excuse for the utter crap they deliver.
PH: Drop the advert image resolution to what you use for cars, and see if anyone notices.

I don't see a million users joining the cry for better image quality - so on that basis most PH'rs don't give a st or don't even recognose that there is a probem with image quality

Well, what say you techies? You were quite responsive at the beginning when you thought it was a browser issue.
I'll give them a pass on that particular article, as the original images on the Dick Lovett website are -suprisingly- almost as bad. GIGO....https://www.dicklovett.co.uk/ferrari/used-cars/200...

Fair point, but there is a higher quality version on Dick Lovett's site (click for full version), miles ahead of the SuperFuzz-O-Vision PH version.https://www.dicklovett.co.uk/ferrari/used-cars/200...

I'm wondering if there's some sort of legal aspect to this?
You know how courtroom artists draw a representation of the scene because photographs aren't allowed?
Maybe there's something like that going on here; PH aren't allowed to use the original image so someone's looking at the photo they were given and then knocking something up that looks vaguely like it using Paint?
