Just a suggestion, chaps - on a many-paged thread, where somebody may have posted a few times over the course of a few days, a rough indication as to which post(s) are the problem might not be a bad addition to that email.

I think the emails I've received relate to quoting other people's offensive posts, themselves removed, but if I'm the one at fault, it would help me avoid similar offence in the future if I knew what the issue was.

Was it the returning Isis thread?

Some of that got deleted today, I got the same message and it looked like my quote (and others quotes of) someone else’s post got deleted.

I deliberately didn't name the thread, because the suggestion (and that's really all it is) is totally separate.

I got the same message relating to the Prison thread, but my post was made over the weekend so I've no idea what was contrary to the rules. I responded to the info address making the very same point about including the offending content otherwise you're none the wiser.

Well I’m looking at a thread missing an offensive post. My quote of it is gone along with others who quoted it and commented on it. It’s quite clear what’s been deleted. I didn’t post anything remotely offensive.

I’m simply pointing out to you that just because you’ve got that email, it doesn’t mean your post was the offensive one, if you quoted someone else then you might be collateral damage.

I’m not sure if this is a new system or not but hopefully someone who actually moderates the site can help you more.

Yep, that's what I think the score is - but the wording of the mail doesn't suggest that as an option...

I think it’s a new thing. It would be nice to know either way. As you say, it looks like you’ve had something deleted and you might be banned when you first read the email. There’s no real information apart from which thread it’s on,

Only one of my posts is missing and that’s where I quoted someone and his original post is missing and so are the others that also quoted it,

Did you post anything controversial?

Hi, as per the other thread on here right now (and I'm not the person who deleted them) a few abusive posts were removed on that thread and everyone who quoted them also had it removed.

Same for others on here including TooMany2cvs. Nothing to worry about.

It's a new person doing it, there is an option when removing a post to send a message to explain why. We don't normally do this when removing quoted posts but it was done this time in error.

You lot are lucky. After 19 years on Pistonheads I have recently had two posts removed and not had so much as a "by your leave" let alone an email explanation. One was part of the Mexico Grand Prix mass cull when someone used the word "racist". The other was when someone on Pistonheads posted a thinly disguised thread to attract us to the For Sale section and I asked what "eating and praying" had to do with cars. On that occasion it was not just my post that was deleted but the entire thread disappeared! Funny times on Pistonheads...
