And then "Yipper chirps up"

Because this forum (NPandE mainly) is dominated by posters with polarised positions, bickering pointlessly for pages defending them. It’s rubbish to read and a complete waste of time for those involved, nobody ever changes their views nobody ever wins. It’s just miserable for everyone,
Yipper says something (people disagree with) and then buggers off.
People then want to defeat him (in their minds) by trying to engage him in this pointless bickering but he’s nowhere to be seen. It infuriates them. I find this amusing. As whether intentional or not, he highlights how futile the bickering is and provides entertainment to people on the sidelines who aren’t engaged in the incessant spirit crushing arguing.
He provides a calm sometimes amusing alternative view, provides entertainment and doesn’t ruin the thread by becoming entrenched defending his views. To me he usually adds much more to the forum than those complaining about him.

What I do have a problem with is when Yipper continually feels the need to give "advice" to folks who are here to ask for genuine help on the forums as PH is a very good source of knowledge on a multitude of subjects, not just cars.
What they need is the expressive views of the good folks on here that have actual knowledge and experience of the given subject they are enquiring about.
What they don't need is Yipper making up a view on a subject, to which he clearly has no knowledge or experience of, and then dressing it up as advice just for the sake of increasing his post count.
At best it's a pretty childish thing to do, at worst it could be dangerous if the person asking for the advice isn't already aware of Yipper's tendency to rely on a Google search or just plainly making stuff up to convey the false premise that he is actually a knowledgeable person.

I would agree with your sentiments entirely if Yipper were to merely keep his involvement to expressing his own personal opinions on topics which are, let face it, for the most part comedy gold.

Maybe I'm just not aware of those sort of posts.
Another earlier in the week discussing moving from a C63 to a Maser GT...

They are both nippy / twitchy rear-wheelers. Only real difference (apart from costs) is looks and badge -- and the Mazza wins on both fronts by a country mile. Switch to the GT.
He frequents the finance section and some of the comments are seriously misleading, continual spouting of BS.Funkycoldribena said:

That's cool. It wasn't a dig at anyone, just a warning.Maybe I'm just not aware of those sort of posts.
I could happily accept Yipper for what he is personally, and those who think that he is just harmless fun, if he were just that, didn't take himself too seriously and made it clear to others that this was the case. Unfortunately the fact that he does seem to take himself seriously and thinks that what he posts in some way constitutes being helpful, even though the majority of it is either copied from a source that he has no way of telling is accurate or just plainly made up by himself, makes him pretty indefensible in my opinion.
And the fact that he disappears quickly after posting isn't because he is above the bickering and somehow better for it. It is purely that once anyone asks him a direct question on the subject he has chosen to comment on, normally because they have genuine experience and knowledge on it, he has no option but to bow out because he hasn't and has no ability to carry the conversation on. That's the sorry truth unfortunately.
But hey, life goes on!

I don't think he's that trolly tbh

I wouldn't describe him as a troll at all to be honest, I don't think he is here just to provoke an adverse reaction from folks like some clearly are.some of the stuff he says is on point
Yes some of the stuff he posts will be on point as it will be factually correct regardless of whether he has personal experience of it himself, which I'd wager he doesn't. That's not the problem is it. It's all the times he posts when he has absolutely no idea if what he is posting is even correct, let alone good advice that I personally take objection too.
Like I say PH gives everyone access to the knowledge of many different folks, from many different walks of life and with many different experiences in almost anything you can think of when they need an honest opinion or good sound advice on a particular subject.
Why on earth would they need someone like Yipper who is just taking a punt merely for the sake of raising his post count?

Often people are quick to throw the 'troll' card around at people who simply hold a different viewpoint, irrespective of how intellectually robust and politely expressed the offered viewpoints may be. some of the stuff he says is on point
Yipper is either very young or a little bit imbalanced, quite possibly both.
I find his interjections overwhelmingly annoying and usually founded either in ignorance or fantasy.
He posts for attention and i’d lay odds has either more than one account or has been previously banned, again quite possibly both.
I agree that all communities be they real or virtual need characters. I don’t see Yipper as such. He derails, antagonises and misadvices purely for effect and his own gratification.
He’ll be loving the fact that there is a thread about him and yes I am acutely aware of the irony and indeed hypocrisy I’m exhibiting by participating in it !
