I can't be the only one who despises people who look down on other people because they don't drive the same leased car as them? I take st for driving an ST170, guess what, I'm 18, I can't afford to drive the same generic blue leased Golf R as everyone else, and I couldn't stomach driving the same leased Ibiza FR as everyone my age either. I'd say it angers me, but it's just sad to see, I can't help but think it adds to my enthusiasm for cars dying more and more. I'm sure I'll take st on this too before it turns into another lease thread.

Don't take any notice of what other people think about you or what car you drive. Its as simple as that.
You can then enjoy what ever you have regardless of the knobheads out there.

I know what you mean but then you crowbar in a less than subtle dig about leased Golf R's. Anyone "looking down" may not actually be doing and it may be you feeling a bit left out as you cant get that Golf R or if they are looking down, says more about them than you or your car, some will be skinning themselves to run something fancy on a limited budget and feel the need to justify it, but most really dont care and will just express interest in anything half interesting.

Dont worry about it, its a decent car the ST 170, one of the best handling front drive hatches, bubbling under as a potential classic.

I am 47 and driving a grotty old TT, I am quite happy with this, got other things going on and not out to prove my worth in the scheme of things with a car, nobody cares anyway !

One of my new aprrentices at work has just blown £13k on an Audi A5. He's 18. Not interested in cars. The sort that can't check their own oil. The previous car turned into a wreck in a few months, I've never heard a petrol engine sound like a diesel before. The only reason to buy it is, they need an Audi. The percentage of there wage spent monthly on it must be insane.

His face was a picture when a colleague reminded them that they're still on trial and not garanteed a job yet. tongue out

It always used to be a right of passage as a teenager to drive a stty first car. I had a Metro, my friends had ropey old 205's, Punto's, Fiesta's, etc. I find it a bit sad so many youngsters these days go straight into a leased generic hatch (although I fully understand the appeal).

You seem to have serious issues with people that lease cars???

You state about them looking down on you but in actual fact you’re trying to look down on them because you own your car and theirs is leased!

What is ownership? When you’re dead the car won’t be yours or theirs just the same

Gearstick always came right out when selecting reverse. In the end I could see the road wheel going round under my foot through the hole in the floor!

Kids today eh?

(and it wasn't leased either biggrin)
