As I learnt last time. They don't give a fk. I'll just put some client-side rules in so it's usable again.
I've blocked the upper most area which cleans it up a bit. I'm guessing it's what they were going for. In case anyone else wants to...www.pistonheads.com##.header-top.contain

And now I have a delete button.
Almost as if they're working on it live.
I bet they use this thread for their QC testing. Which reminds me of this story when Ryanair instead of spending millions on proper development team hired two students to build their first site back in the early naughties. They paid them 20k EUR if I remember correctly.Almost as if they're working on it live.

Well at least they have sorted the layout.
Last time they installed this banner my data usage increased by 25%. Not good when I have a capped allowance.
TBH I think it's the same "update" as last time tbh - all related to reintroducing that bloody dropdown menu banner at the top with links that no-one clicks on and that no-one uses anyway which buggered up the forums so well last time Last time they installed this banner my data usage increased by 25%. Not good when I have a capped allowance.
Using PH yesterday, task manager showed barely 15-20% background cpu usage in internet explorer or Chrome when viewing PH forums.
Logged on today - currently i'm running at 85-90% background cpu usage in both IE & Chrome when viewing PH - of course this is probably due to both the stupid reintroduced banner at the top in addition to the pointless flash based advertising that PH continue to serve.
FFS PH, the "improvements" didn't work last time and it's clearly not working that well now either
Edit - managed to activate an extension in Chrome that has now not only successfully blocked all the annoying adverts being served, but also got rid of the menu at the top too - down to 15-20% background usage again.

Sorry guy and girls. We did a rollout that has some bugs in it, which we are ironing out.
Please accept our sincerest apologies, we care deeply about the impact on our users and will take steps to analyse this incident so it does not re-occur in the future. We will also consider doing these out of hours in the future.
no I don't work for them, but seeing as they don't have any customer service management, thought I would make some of you feel appreciated instead

Appears to be okay now.
'New' header with links to News, Ads, Events, etc. is in place and old one has gone.
Inelegant, but makes sense and I'll use it. It was a niggle to have to click PistonHeads to get to homepage to navigate to other sections, so overall an improvement but very poorly managed.
