Hi all,

Unfortunately identification is proving difficult as the 'bad ads redirects' are targeting the site sporadically and often via different suppliers. We are currently meeting with tech providers who can automate the identification of harmful ads with a view to getting a permanent solution.

Thank you.

Jack

I just got hit with a re-direct, but unusually, it was from the PH front page (previously, its always been from one of the forum pages)

I think PH should run a competition to determine how retribution should be delivered once the offender is identified....

Just had a loud high pitch tone with "windows firewall" bla bla… had to close the browser. Virus scan shows all ok. (Malware bytes)

My holy grail is to get a redirect while I am in this topic.

I was just on the 'what's new' page and suddenly got redirected to nextoptim.com/script/packcpm.php with various parameters after it, at least I would have been but ESET asked me if I really wanted to go there and I went back instead

And for an encore back in What's new I got this warning on screen. Maybe I need to switch back to Firefox & AdBlock?

Its an absolute stshow.

The solution seems to be pretty much the IT equivalent of having a recurring serious std that the doctor keeps prescribing homeopathic cream for.

The constant redirects have led me to install ad blocking software. I don’t see why we should put up with low rent clickbait rubbish that ruins the website. It might generate a bit of money short term but the end result is bad for PH. An ad blocker which completely resolved the issue for me but means no ad revenue for PH

Just to add a negative data point : I don't get the redirects.

It could be
a) Location - I'm in Aus
b) Adblock - I'm using Opera (mobile) with it's ad blocking enabled.

What devices are people using as I've had nothing for a week or more on iPad and Windows 10 PC?

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but recently I've been getting a lot of issues where PH just changes (without me clicking anything) to a site that my anti-virus blocks straight away.

Latest one (10 minutes ago) was from eaypyybe.win

This is exactly what has been happening since I started this thread all those months ago.

The site it takes you to varies, it can go through several before setting on one. I have had all sorts of different ste !

For me the simple solution was to just block JavaScript from running on this site.

I can imagine that won't be acceptable to anyone who wants to use the classifieds.

PH techs have got all this utterly arse before face.
In the real world it would likely be

forums.pistonheads.com
classifieds.pistonheads.com

and you could block on either of those if needed.

Alternatively they could just employ someone who actually had the authority to fix the stupid coding that spins your CPU for fun doing absolutely nothing.

Actually here's a thought, PH why don't you turn off all your advertisement nonsense bullst that everyone is complaining about and ask them for permission to run a bit of crypto mining software at 5%-10% cpu cycles per user?

I'd gladly give you 0.03% of my CPU availability whilst I'm reading this site (for a 0.001% stake in the company)

The kiddies in charge of this site haven't got a clue.

Haymarket do, some very smart bods with some good brands (e.g. Campaign)

PH has no dev funds and seems to be written off to slowly die.

Does this mean it may be PistonHeads that's stopping my PC going to sleep at night? It's really annoying because most nights it goes silent, but occasionally it hums away all night - and I haven't had the patience to figure out what I left open so far.
