Slightly concerning as don't you need username & password to edit details?

I see things appear to have returned to normal, and the site was down for a while ?

So, I take it, restored from yesterday's user data backup...

I hope you are now deep into finding how someone managed to ake those changes on mass, and what data they might have gotten away at the same time...

Time for everyone to change their passwords I'd say...

interestingly I received an e-mail (apparently) from PH to advise that my password had been changed please use the single use PW to log in - but the e-mail didn't contain a link as you might expect from a phishing mail...

We have been utilising external testers (vendors we engage) across the site to find vulnerabilities in the code of the forums so that we can be sure that the forums codebase is as secure as possible since the purchase from Haymarket as part of our IT security protocols. As part of this testing exercise, one of the testers managed to find a vulnerability in a part of the site updating member details for the country and full name.

We want to assure you that no data from member accounts was exposed to any third parties and this was a very specific test on the member update. We have fixed the vulnerability and have restored the full name and country. You are not required to take any action from your side at this point.

Really sorry for any worries or concerns from this, and we will continue to make the forums as secure as possible.

Smiler.

You really really need to have another look at those.
