Thankyou.
Do you have anything to share to help others who can't upload from their apple devices?

I assumed that they would have knowledge of this problem and know the answer/answers.

Mods use the same photo uploader and experience the same issues as everyone else.

Sorry for the difficulty this is causing, I understand it's very frustrating!

It's no secret that PH needs a new photo uploader, but until we have the time to get that done, unfortunately users will have to use another image uploader (imgur for example), or use the work arounds detailed above - ie, screenshotting the photo, cropping the photo slightly, reducing image size on your phone etc.

Hopefully one of those works for you, and again, sorry for the annoyance.

Thumbsnap FAQ said:
What kind of image types can I upload?
ThumbSnap currently allows images in .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, and .png formats.
So make sure the image you want to upload has one of these extensions. Latest iPhones/iPads may use alternative default file extensions for pictures.

Thumbsnap PH Uploader said:
Max file upload size is 2MB
So make sure the image you want to upload is less than 2Mbytes in size.

I doubt anything has changed with PH.

It's most likely ThumbSnap (an external service) that has changed.

Same here.

Phone stopped working few weeks ago ,the laptop joined in today.

I won't bother taking any more pics from now on.

Possibly, though a PHer on the newer/smaller thread relating to the recent onset of image upload problems noted they could upload to Thumbsnap directly but not on PH. IIRC they posted examples.

I'm using a mac. a workaround is drag the photo from you Photos App on to the desktop.
It becomes a JPEG, and it will upload from there if you select it.

Works fine for me as you can see.

Only comment to make is make sure the photo has been edited in some way first.

Just auto will do, as this makes sure the file is on the local device and not just in iCloud.

You will see the circle timer as it downloads when you choose auto edit.

You can if you go to the bottom of the photograph you are uploading and it will show you or should show you that you can resize it. Choose medium and it's usually okay.
