not sure if i've just never noticed it before but when i click on an image now which has been uploaded to PH via thumbsnap, it takes you to their site for a full res version of the image, but where it shows you thumbs of other images (on that same page) it's pretty much full of scantily clad females in underwear, posing etc.

Now, for transparency, this isn't an issue for me (laugh) however - i always felt PH was quite family originated, is this appropriate still?

I find it's not worth bothering with. Most phones will take a photo bigger than 2mb. If I'm posting from my phone I can't be bothered trying to re size them. It's enough of a ball ache doing it on a laptop.

I’d you are using an iPhone (might work on android too, no idea), when selecting a photo you can also select the size you want.

When you're posting, you have the option 'Upload an image (beta)'

this forum embedded feature links out to thumbsnap - to me that is kind of an endorsement from PH that TS is the chosen partner for image hosting.

i assume the majority of image uploads are via this method, and therefore, anyone clicking on an image in a post will see these provocative images also?

Are the provocative images not based on one's browsing history?

It's ste.

The other images are just one of the issues with using a seriously poor solution, which has issues with larger images, can only upload one at a time, ends up with people making a mess of the BB code, etc.

Sort it out!

haha, no, it's not 'you may also like...' it's just latest images uploaded (with scripts running to keep the revenue ones near the front i would imagine...)

My tablet's malware system is not impressed with Thumbsnap:

Don’t k ow what you’re complaining about, all seems above board to me:

binned

I only followed a link to a close up of someone’s new vrs estate, honest!

Mod note: Ironic I know, but it's not really SFW. We've flagged it up for the management so don't need the pictures here.

thank you - and just to say, personally, i am not offended by it, but i'm a guy with no kids and a private home office - others might not be as lucky.

It's genuinely an issue.

Currently I am working from home, and often browse on my phone, but it does mean I basically can enlarge the images at work even during lunch time, and have to be slightly careful if browsing in a public place or with my partner around. Not because I have anything to hide but because people make judgments and explaining that the bouncing tits and thong shots across the bottom are nothing to do with the bit of car/engine/diy you are trying to get a good view of!

Obviously also PH is open to a range of audiences, I know for one I was using car/boat forums as a teenager and I don't think it is a normal I would want to set for a younger audience.

We are looking into this as a matter of urgency and will be introducing a workaround that means you can't click to Thumbsnap from the image, and will apply this retrospectively best we can to all thumbsnap posts previously.

Will this remove the ability to get the full resolution copy of the images? In which case, I would say it's a retrograde step.

Better to keep the existing images as they are and work to a better solution for new images moving fwd.

What RacingPete has described is the immediate fix because this is clearly not acceptable. We are then looking at a better long-term solution.
