Anti-flooding stops you immediately editing your post
Discussion
If you make a post and immediately think "st st st I need to edit that!" and go to do so, you can get hit with the anti-flooding thing.
I totally get that immediately making a follow-up post could be flooding, but editing your post should not be.
What the current measures mean is you have to wait to correct your post, during which time some smart alec has quoted it.

Haven't you heard the saying read twice post once?
Thanks for raising. Our anti-flooding system only prevents you from editing the post for 10 seconds to stop bots filling the forums with spam. I should think it's highly unlikely someone would see your post and quote it within that time before you can edit it, but I could well be wrong!
If this is a problem affecting multiple members, it would be helpful to know from others so we can understand the scale of the issue. Thanks!

True. And one day I might learn that. Ben Lowden said:

It does happen though. I guess what I was saying is that, ideally, the anti-flooding system should differentiate between a new post and an edit. But I completely accept that this is a very low priority / minor issue and, as you say, 10 secs isn't that long.
It also comes into play when you report a post
Example New User spams the forum for Keto or whatever
I report the post as spam
Then I go and reply to the post to say reported and the anti flooding kicks in
I have to wait 20 secs and then reply
So now I reply first to the post to say "Reported" (so that the Moderation team don't get loads of reports) and then actually report it

It's a good point and this isn't something we do right now, but if there's sufficient demand we could look into it. So if this is an issue for anyone else, please let us know on this thread.I guess what I was saying is that, ideally, the anti-flooding system should differentiate between a new post and an edit. It's caught me out once or twice when I tried to edit a typo just after posting.
Wait a few seconds, try again, all good.
It's really no great hardship.
Maybe it is me getting used to this new keyboard and doing more edits, but it's been happening a lot to me recently having never experienced it before.Wait a few seconds, try again, all good.
