Thanks, I realised it was chrome that wasn't bringing up the option. I use the search bar on my pixel quite a bit and that wouldn't let me do anything when pressing and holding.

Much easier now that I don't use the app anymore though.

Side swipe to go back 1 page just takes me back to the main forum page showing the list of sub forums.

As the app is brand new and not ancient spaghetti PH code, I assume it will have full test automation and deployment so that the fix for this can be rolled out really quickly, probably as part of one of the daily releases.

Right?

Yes we're regularly rolling out updates and bug fixes. However it's worth noting that for now only the classifieds and auctions are natively built, while the forums, news content and events are a wrapper of our mobile site. So we appreciate these may not be the best experience right now, but we will natively build them in due course, when we rebuild the forums next year.

The one thing I'd hoped for over the browser experience was the ability to search the forum without having to switch my mobile bowser to "desktop mode", without this I'm struggling to see what the app brings over using a browser other than PH having control over serving me adverts.

Am I missing something?

No you're not - at the moment the app is a wrapper of our mobile site. However we'll be rebuilding the forums from scratch next year, and will be natively building the forums into the app at that point. When we get closer to the rebuild, we'll ensure we consult the community heavily on features they'd like to see, such as this thumbup

Don t know if it has been mentioned yet but there seems to be another issue with the app (iphone 13 mini) in that I can t follow links posted in the comments sections of auction listings.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks for the clarification.

Another with the app is that whenever I open it, I get this error.

Navigating using the burger to forum resolves it.

That issue will fortunately go away when this is out: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Sorry, this app is barely useable. Again, the back swipe has stopped working and now minimizes the app.
Secondly, following a YouTube link means I cannot return to the post. Opening the YouTube app just crashes the piston heads app.

I'm deleting it and will come back to it next year.

Has anyone reported the issue of trying to follow links from the ph email to the app - 404 error every time.
It's so tiresome.

Anyone found a solution, other than delete the app and use the hyperlink to chrome rather than the app itself?

Just a reminder that this first version of the app is buying focused and the forums is only included as a webview. We felt it was better to have it like this than not at all.

We will be working on a native forums experience for mobile next year.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but my query is sort of relevant.
Any chance you could fix it so that we can use the Android (and presumably Apple) phones 'back' button at the bottom of the screen (ie one of the 3 back /home/multi window buttons at the very bottom of the screen) instead of/as well as the forum's back button at the top left of the screen.
Every other app uses the phone's back button to go back a page - but using the phone's one on the P/H app just reverts to the phone's home screen. I'm so used to using the phone's one by default, that it's frustrating that the app keeps closing every time.
Hope I've explained it well enough for you to get what I mean..!
Thanks

Anyone else having issues with the PH App hanging up, since the update today?
