Having had my Aventador for approaching 18 months ... I've genuinely thought about what to change it for, but nothing as far as I am concerned appeals so much as a big green Lambo.

I've come to love the colour and even now, every time I drive it, see it in a passing shop window, in pictures or even just say on the drive ... What else is there that would justify the cost to change (especially when I'd go for a newer Aventador and be choosing a different colour just for the sake of changing it, when I'd really want to spec another Verde Ithica.

I know mine has been looked after since new, but it does get driven (I even popped to work in it today despite the slippy roads) and it's now done approaching 11k mls ... But unlike most cars I've had that I've gotten used to the power all too quickly, I still have to hold on tight when I press the loud pedal in this ... It hasn't lost anything over time.
It's a great all round car, and I would use it a lot more than I do now, if it had 1 more seat.

I can't comment on soul of a Countach or a Murci.
I've never driven a Countavh and the Murci I drive (to me) felt archaic, almost agricultural, compared to my 911/360 ... Even older than my old style Vanquish.

I assume other owners feel the same, which is why there aren't many genuine ads for genuine cars, as people are holding onto them for longer and I am hoping they don't fall under £200k for a long time to come yet!

Don't ever get in a Countach.
And don't ever, ever get in a Miura. That will feel like a plough pulled by a bullock to you.

It just reinforces how different people want very different things from cars.

To me, my early Diablo feels modern and it has no power steering, no ABS.
The Murci is huge leap forward on that; it is modern. I love it and it is a fabulous car but so is an RS6.

Like S1M VP, where do you go after an Aventador? I went from an Aventador coupe to a Aventador Roadster (which I love) - just waiting for the SV. Other then stepping up to a P1/La Ferarri/918 - what choices are there? You could go down the classic route - but I think that you would build the classic collection alongside the Aventador. The looks still blow me away!

The Countach is actually a great car, very physical and a "proper" Lamborghini, with the "full fat" Super Car driving experience. Yes it has it's idiosyncrasies, but today, 40 years later, still has the WOW factor! It was THE poster car (certainly when I was growing up). The Murci is much more polished and refined (there was 10 years of Diablo production inbetween Countach and Murci) - and the LP640, IMHO, was a much improved car, with the asymmetric oil cooler intakes - but the daddy Murci is the SV. Sublime steering (like a go kart's), excellent brakes and with handling that defies what is still quite a heavy car. But finding a clean SV is very hard.

Just my 2 penneth....

So you are saying that a 2012 coupe that cost £250k new will still be £200k when it is 4-5 years old?? That must make it the least depreciating car out there at the moment.....
The cheapest in the UK is advertised at £217,950... (with a reputable dealer)....... they have held their value exceptionally well.

Selling prices appear unchanged, but a lot of them have been unsold for over a year now.

Yes there's no sense with the Aventador. My last one went back to a dealer in px and I lost almost nothing in comparative terms. When I first looked for an Aventador many of the advertised cars didn't actually exist, I put this down to some unscrupulous dealers fishing for potential customers. They were either cars they had and sold or pictures it would seem just taken off the internet to lift there profile.
That said there's got to be some cars out there at good cash deals if they're standing about that long.

My friend recently enquired and couldn't find anything cheaper then £215k 2012 physical stock. The problem is the warranty will be out and if anything goes wrong will be very expensive. RAC do a warranty pack for £1k but only covers up to £5k

This is a fair point, I had a couple of niggles with mine which were small electronic glitches. I'm hoping the new single ECU will help overcome the issue. That said the V12 Lambo is pretty much bullet proof.

Aventadors with main dealers are still shifting fast at the moment. Looked at a matte black one at HRO a few weeks back, and it shifted within a week or two.

Agree that they seem to have defied gravity.

I bought my Countach, Diablo and Murci at this sort of point in the cycle and the percentage depreciation had been significantly higher.

So I shall wait a bit longer.
I believe that they'll go below £200k for a post 2013 car in time.
But we shall see.
If they turn out to be the last of the V12, I may be wrong.

I have just re joined the Lambo club with a 64 plate aventador and can say of all the 12/14 cars I have owned in the last 10 years it is by far the best I have ever driven.

Everything that I felt was "missing" or "wrong" in previous lambos in terms of comfort / sound / sex appeal / convenience / comfort /tech has been completely fixed and it is truly a specimen of a car. I do think that the Aventador out of its own league of cars in that sort of broad range (458 etc) - it blows them out massively by a mile and which is why they have genuinely held their value (even I am surprised having watched patiently for months!). The Audi touches on the incar tech / sat nav etc are absolutely fantastic.

I have bought the car on finance and have already decided to keep the car and will be either paying it off or preparing to pay the balloon figure - I am that happy with the car in general and my specifically my car! It is a car I will definitely not mind having for 5-10 years! And I am definitely one to always move my money around or park it in appreciating ventures / or keep my options open but I am certain I love the car that much! I think this is why genuinely they are extremely resistant to dropping especially anywhere towards the sub 200k mark.

I must say that a lot of Aventadors are clocked and ex rental cars / have been abused worst than Pamela Anderson - out there so do your research well! No car, if bought properly from a main dealer such as HR Owen or at least checked by them - will remain un-discovered of any dodgyness, which is why I paid the premium.

They are terrible cars particularly the SV Roadsters in Green/Orange colours and will surely fall below 150K by the end of next summer. wink Which might coincide with when I am looking to trade up the Gallardo.
