Just had "the call" to tell me that my SV will arrive and be ready for collection before the end of April (so VERY excited!).

But ... having had my Aventador for over 4 years now. I know it's been a great, trouble free car and has been well loved, it's also just had a service/tyres etc + Aventadors don't appear to be dropping below the £215-220k figure, so it's not really losing anything either (man maths).

Question to SV owners .... Is the SV different enough from the std car, to justify/warrant keeping both?

I sold both! The SV is a step up - but with the same gearbox issues. I think the Dynamic steering works on the road - but the S makes both redundant......they had to do the rear wheel steer to make the car more agile!

I think the truth of the matter just they can't get a twin plate clutch into the Aventador tub, or they would have by now. I think they'll get a few years out of this gearbox before the SV. In the meantime I think you have to accept it's a bit of a dinosaur albeit one that still has an audience. Personally I wouldn't keep the standard car as residuals will surely suffer with the arrival of the S

For some balance. I have had both and own the SV now. The standard car feels like a bus compared to the SV I'm afraid.

Drive them back to back - and you won't want to get back in the standard car. You have to ignore the "advice" from many of the "flippers" as 1) none of them kept the SV beyond the absolutely critical first service, which totally transforms the car and indeed the gearbox (as the gearbox oil is changed at this point for a much thinner viscosity, post the bed-in period - and changes are lightning fast afterwards) and ; 2) many of them talk their own book and have moved onto the latest/greatest thing , and ; 3) most of them base their barometer on performance/gearbox around how the cars perform on the Harrod's/King's road cruise! - and SV's are much more suited to fast open B roads!

SV in isolation is a truly superb car, I've driven an "S" - mainly a cosmetic "facelift" exercise - the rear steer is OK - but has that artificial feel (I also hate rear steer in other cars I'm afraid - so not a fan) - so whilst an S is better than a non-S - the SV is miles better. The eventual new S Performante - will be a special car though with the active aero etc.

The SV is definitely a much better car then the normal Aventador
But I sold mine due to the S being launced and very closely matched (still not better then the SV) for less money. I aslo sold my SV for a premium which softened the blow lol

SV looks and drives like it's special it has its flaws but nothing really competes, Aventador looks the part and is fast but the driving experience is nothing like the SV. i would not keep both unless you are going to just put some serious miles on them and want to offset a bit.

Also set the SV wing to max down force if it has not come like that, it makes a massive difference to the feel.

Sell the stock Aventador and order a Huracan Performante (fastest road car ever made).

You'll be waiting a long time for a Performante I reckon, maybe a couple of years!
I'm a big Lambo fan and Huracan owner but I also reckon the 720 will show the Performante a clean pair of heels of the traffic lights and on the 1/4 mile and then the Nurburgring achievements will be forgotten. Both these latter facts are completely irrelevant on a road for me so I've ordered the new S.
Each to their own!

Thanks for replies chaps!
Should have maybe mentioned that I've also got an S coming in Oct/Nov.
I'd already got my money down on the S, before I was offered the SV (cancelled order).
SV will be a keeper though.
I know most will disagree, but personally, I like the fact that the gearbox isn't a smooth dual clutch, IMO it suits the character of the car much better.
The gearbox in my FF is dual clutch and is silky smooth by comparison, but I think if the Aventador had a dual clutch, it would take away that 'raw' feel, which is one of the things I love about driving the car.
Appreciate all the suggestions though thumbup

Agreed 100%. Its a Supercar FFS! I don't understand these people who crave a boring Dual Clutch box. I hated the box in my SLS and in all the other cars I have driven with a Double Clutch the Gearbox has been the biggest disappointment, boring, uninvolving and feels like a its power with a rubber band........I know its slightly less efficient - but I'd much rather feel each change engaging and get a sense of what the car is doing......but I am a former biker so I like that sort of stuff.......

An Aventador, an SV and an S!! That is some serious V12 Lambo love! Congratulations.

I had an early Aventador which coming from a Murci SV was a disappointment. It was far superior from a tech point of view and the traction control didn't cut in every time you hit a small puddle but that aside I found it floaty and a bit insipid for a V12 Lambo. The Aventador SV was chalk and cheese and ultimately my favourite Lambo I've owned. I don't mind the gearbox at all...in fact I love it. If it hadn't been for a new house and baby arriving it would still be in my garage. Still miss it and I used to love getting up at 5am at the weekends to take it for a spirited drive along some great, empty A and B roads. You'll love it!

aint that the truth!

The terrible truth in fact..

I own a LP570 Performante which is not an ordinary looking car..

However, recently took it to a car show parked next to 2 x A SV Roadsters.... and the G (along with all other cars) just sort of ceased to exist - all a bit depressing really, (but certainly talking first world problems now).

Lambo got it so, so right with the SV.

Anyway back to topic, I can't see any point in owning an SV plus a regular Aventador.... I mean, how likely is it that you are going to wake up and think: 'I know, I'll take the regular Aventador out for a spin today' and leave the SV in the garage? Surely that would just never happen??

Haha, very true. Always feel a bit 'underprivileged' when I visit the Lambo dealer. Not until I get out into normal car civilisation again that the car feels special. Def. 1st world problems! The SV is stunning. I agree, wouldn't keep both though. That and a F12 sitting in the garage and I would be complete - for a while anyway.

This was the exact reason I decided to let her go last week (along with making space for something else), but I do hope I've done the right thing. My green goddess was a great car to own and the next owner will get a very sorted and much loved car, which never let me down and had everything she ever needed. I was so confident in the car that I didn't feel the need to extend the warranty and have happily run her for the last 18 months without any warranty and she was still 100% trouble free.

Also, for those interested ... it's very early days and only done 150 miles so far, but a few first impressions on New Vs Old ...

Negatives:

Seats don't adjust as much as the old car and don't recline as far so I feel 'too upright' and my head almost touches the roof, so I need to find a way to modify the seats to give me the same driving position as my old car.
Exhaust takes an age to warm up and allow baffles to open, whereas old car was almost instant as soon as I put her in sports mode.
Generally feels like it needs to be run in properly, to loosen everything up

Positives:

Car feels so much more "alive" and so much more responsive
Feedback; can actually literally feel every bump or white line through the steering wheel
Looks so aggressive
No creaks, rattles of any kind
Clutch feels 500% smoother, much more like a dual clutch (unless in Corsa)
Yellow Dash/dials look nice, but I'm not quite used to them yet
Blu Nethuns paint; pictures just can't do the colour justice, when the sun hits it, the sparkle explodes into life, (although I think I will always miss the green)

Anyway .... got to go .... suns out! driving

At 150 miles it will still be very tight. It gets so much better after the 1500 mile service. I hope your dealer isn't one of those who charges for it.

There is an American guy who posts on the US Lambo forums with an Aventador, Aventador SV, and has an Aventador S on the way. Says he wants the trinity and just can't bring himself to sell any of them.
