I am a long time reader of the forum, but not normally poster...however I have run into an issue that I would like see if any has had a similar experience. I will leave out the names of dealer etc because its not really important and they are doing their best. Let me explain my story…

After many many years of hard work I have managed to get myself into a position to buy a new Lamborghini, in fact it’s the first new car I have ever bought! I have always lusted after a V12 engine and with all the current drive for electrification….its now or never. As such I put a deposit down for and Aventador S in December 16.

I only placed my deposit after sitting in the original Aventador and being surprised at how well I fit given my 6’2 height.

Here in lies the problem. My car has now turned up (18 months later) at the dealership and much to my surprise I simple don’t fit anymore. I can get in the car but my head is wedged into the roof and the visibility is compromised but the thick windscreen roof beam. Something has changed, and being mid forties I assume i have had a late growth spurt. After a week or so of investigating I have discovered through help of a couple of Lamborghini dealers and independent specialists that that Lamborghini have introduced a limit to the amount of seat recline on the S model. Why would you do that????

I have tried an original Aventador again last Friday, to confirm that I was not going mad and the old seats do in fact reline significantly more than the S and I could find a superb driving position.

My dealer had tried to reprogram the seat ECU to see if the limits can be changed (apparently a common mod on a Huracan) but they confirmed yesterday that they were not able to achieve this.

They are contacting Lamborghini Urgently for guidance on the issue. I have told the dealer that I cannot accept delivery until the situation is resolved, which I am gutted about . That said I am desperately trying to help them with a solution since I am obviously very excited to finally get hold of the car.

I have also called and emailed Lamborghini about the issue a week ago, no response, that is a little disappointing. I hope the dealer request has more luck.

My questions really is have any S owners out there run into similar problems? Did you find a work around? Any help is massively appreciated. I will of course update this thread as more information comes to light to help others if I am the first to suffer with this. I have also posted this on Lamborghini Talk forum, looking for help stateside too.

I thought buying a brand new Lamborghini would be an amazing experience but this has definately taken the edge off it!

Thanks.

That's a rubbish situation to be in, sorry.

Couldn't the seat just be manually moved into the right position then just pull the fuse for the seat motors? Obviously not great if someone else needs to use the car. Or maybe see if the dealer will swap the seats for the buckets?

Why not just swap the seats out for ones from the Hurracan? Or the non "S" seat etc

Thanks for the reply. We are investigating if there i a physical stop in the reclining mechanism. if so we will push for a new (old) mechanism we can put in. the altnertive is get the grinder out...which i am ok with so long as its done by Lamborghini and documented by them.

As for the Lambo bucket seats...i tried the Huracan Performante with them....not great for us lanky types!

Can’t you just weld in whatever seat suits you, exactly where you want it?

Yes and replace it with a normal Aventador seat

I’m 6’4” with a 2015 aventador and I just fit with size 13 shoes, so race boots help when driving it.... Bloody Italians they are all smaller and they build their cars to suit frown

I’m 6’1” and have the same issue.

I had a 2012 Aventador and the seat reclined quite far, so that I could get really comfortable.
I swapped the car when my SV arrived and the sets wouldn’t recline as much as the old car and my head was almost touching the roof.

The only thing we could do (without taking the seats apart to look at the mechanism) was to put some washers under the front of the seat frames.
Hardly ideal, but it tips the seat back “just” enough to allow the car to be drivable.

When I ordered my S, I deliberately specced the manual seats rather than the electric seats, thinking the frames might be shallower. They are and it’s better, but still not as comfortable as my old car was ... and there is no way I could ever track either the S or the SV as there is t enough space between my head and the roof for a helmet.

It’s a ridiculous change for Lamborghini to make.
Obviously everyone who works at Lamborghini must all be small.

I was advised that they had homologised the car to a new standard, but I’d guess that they had some warranty claims from the seats rubbing at the back or something similar.

If there is a fix to allow the seats to recline like the original cars, please do post on here and let us know.

Cheers

Sorry to revive a very old thread but did anyone get any results with this? I can’t fit in the Aventador SV with the bucket seats and am looking to see if I can get a custom one made or even a custom mounting bracket to adjust the angle but wondering if anyone else had found a solution that worked.
