Considering moving from an Aventador S to a 765LT - would be interesting to know if anyone has done this and their thoughts?

I have an exhaust valve controller on the LP740 and it sounds insane but I have been told I would be dissapointed with the sound of the Mclaren?

Drive it
No turbocharged car will sound like the Lamborghini but the composure of the Mclaren will more than compensate
The connection to the driver through the steering and the backside is go kart like
Trust me, I’ve had a Mclaren for 9 years

Drive wise there is no comparison, one is a big heffer of a car with stupid long gearing that kills the feel of brutal acceleration and steering which could be better, looks and sound wise though does anyone do it better than Lamborghini.

If your priority is driving the Mclaren will wow you, it is in a totally different league, if you go on track you will realise just how bad the Lamborghini is.

I love an AV for how they look and sound, but to me the drive was so disappointing, Mclarens drive so much better!

Is the sound your only consideration?

The CC 765lt seems to be struggling. I didn’t realise they were so expensive when new with options. Must make the equivalent spider spec to this £400k.

One is a posers car and the other is a drivers car.
I'll let you work out which way round

Depends what you want but no one makes a car sound better than lamborghini

Earlier AVs were not great but the S is a really well sorted car. 4WS makes it very usable and as mentioned the sense of occasion, the way you sit, the somewhat brutal nature of it is unmatched. Aventadors are cars you need to do a proper big journey in to understand what they are about as on first acquaintance they won't feel great.

Of course any McLaren is far more capable in the real world but nothing will match the pure supercar feel of an AV. My neighbour actually did the opposite and went from a McLaren to an Aventador, he loves it.

It is comparing different generations. The comparison that comes to mind is a Daytona and a Testarossa, both are completely different and have their own unique charm. Purists will like the older car as part of the enjoyment is unlocking the magic which requires a bit of commitment. A TR is a relatively easy car to drive in comparison.

It'll be a huge mistake. Stick with the Aventador.

Years in both their predecessors gives me a pretty good idea I would say but to be exact with your question a few days in both those exact models.

Presumably you have more ?? So please enlighten us all

NATURALLY ASPIRATED Rambo, now then Del how about them KIAS…But please tell us more about your decades of supercars and McLaren CARBON TUBS! I’m talking about the cars not the Maclaren prams. One minute you tell us you’re in your twenties the next minute you’re in your thirties and now you’re telling us about experience in lambo predecessors…Crikey you must have been fifteen! Are you sure you’re not sitting in your parents bedroom in your underpants fantasising about your expertise? Anyway please do tell us about Carbon tubs…..or your expert knowledge in 458 gearbox issues etc….or maybe just stick to not saying anything because well in your own words “less is more”

I’m fortunate to have both and the Av would be the last one i let go by a long way, the 720 is way more accomplished but the Av theatre and old supercar feel i adore & i couldnt be without that sound.

I’m very unusual to be able to appreciate both by all accounts but i do, many who try to persuade you to go mclaren dont get them or have never spent long enough with one to understand the allure of an Av, doubt you’ll find many macca owners that have had an av, they’re normaly porsche or lotus previous owners as they’re all about handling and theres so much more to cars than just this.

I find my 720 an incredible feat of engineering in nearly all areas and its easy to drive whatever mood i’m in, the Av is saved for when i’mmin a particular mood or very special occasion, says it all really, the 720 is your wife, the AV is your mistress biggrin

Was thinking of one but they still sound no better and the extra performance is easily achieved with the 720 anyway, though I noticed today the first main dealer one listed below 300k at 298..

Its still twice the price of your average 720S and it is the law of diminishing returns in terms of performance.
In terms of sound I would say there is a noticeable difference between 720S and 765LT with all the pops and bangs.
There is also less sound deafening and there are far more vibrations thru the cabin giving the LT a real race car feel compared with the more mega fast GT cruiser 720S feel. LT feels fast and loud even at lower speeds

No comparison of 720s v 765LT.

Totally different cars in almost every way.

Like saying a Porsche Turbo S is like a GT3RS.

Didnt think so personally, noticeable for sure but nothing like the difference between a gt3rs and Turbo.

From my perspective i dont need something more raw, i have the av for that, my 720 ownership is for a more compliant nature so the 765s party trick doesnt draw me that much tbh

I own both and occasionally drive them back to back, they are vastly different, hence my Porsche analogy

But in any event the post is 765LT v Aventador not about your 720s
