Yes they are OEM for that car - S2 LP400S. The are known as 'flag' mirrors for obvious reasons.
When the S3 LP400S started rolling off the production lines they moved at some point to the sleeker Vitaloni baby turbo mirrors, which they continued with the 5000S through to the Anniversary.
Interestingly (or not!) the early production run S1 4 litre cars had Vitaloni Sebring mirrors. Looked great but could imagine they weren't that useful as they were small and had quite a short stem. It looks as though Lamborghini went from one extreme (sebring) to the other (flag) before finding a more appropriate size (baby turbo).
Personally, and ever these things are only subjective, I think the flag mirrors look epic on the low body cars, something about the way they accentuate the low stance.
The later cars had turbo not baby turbo mirrors on them. I bought up a lot of NS ones from Itlay as the base plate that fits onto the door above the mirror base plate cant be found. The kits i bought had them. The door base plates are designed to crack and break hence they are the most often used part. Nice mirros but in all cases as FS says not the best for visability.

Probably not the same event but I video recorded the whole footage of a Countach spinning off at the chicane at Goodwood in the late 1980s and I'm pretty sure that snapper seven photographed the same incident - was awesome to watch and hear Ferruccio said:
That could well be me in the white one, though I don't remember spinning.........
Well this white Countach C596 WGO spun at the Goodwood chicane and I caught it on the video camera, the best bit was of course that the Countach did a complete spin without hitting anything, then restarted and carried on as if nothing had happened. The driver said the throttle pedal stuck! I took a few screen-grabs of the whole incident:
Have to say the exhaust note as it accelerated away was truly awesome.

Go on - put this bit of the video on YouTube.....or this the recording technology too old for this to be possible?I took a few screen-grabs of the whole incident:

Rich,
I sent you an email a few days ago to your gmail account. Not sure if you have received it or not. Perhaps check your junk mail?
If you have and wish to ignore then no bother.
cheers
David
Sorry for not replying sooner but I've been looking for the original video footage which was recorded using a camcorder onto VHS-C tape (which unfortunately cannot be replayed on a conventional VHS recorder unless an adapter tape is used). Now I recorded some footage on the Countach spin onto a DVD, but I copied this several years ago and have since 'misplaced' the DVD! Aside from which the video quality is poor and the video cameraman (me) was panning/zooming etc. like no tomorrow. Once I find the original footage I might be able to edit out some of the worst bits.I sent you an email a few days ago to your gmail account. Not sure if you have received it or not. Seen many doing this ?
It is indeed Quarry at Castle Combe back in the late 80's early 90's at a Detomaso owners meet.
He made it onto the grass but avoided any damage.

Just Geoff White he pink came from the colour of his wife's belt ! Chopped a bit off the end so they could copy it. Blue inside came from his jeans. He painted the air ducts silver 2 weeks after he had got the car with paint from Halfords !! He always been accentric
Geoff on the left !!
He wasn't afraid to put his foot down on the track and I do remember he spun the Countach on one or two occasions at the notorious double apex at the Goodwood race circuit. The pink paint scheme on the Countach exterior was certainly very vivid indeed, though it was well matched to the blue interior, his mods on spaying the two air ducts silver was mighty impressive, and if you hadn't mentioned it then I doubt anyone would have known.Geoff on the left !!
Truth be known is that I would have put in a reasonable offer to buy the pink Countach had I known it was up for sale before he sold it to Wheelhouse in Nottingham, I did actually write to him several years before but he never bothered to reply which was a great shame.
Rumour has it that Geoff was a dentist from Halifax, which just goes to show why visiting a dentist costs so much money either then or now!
