Talking of Martin Ingham of Bolton,, i visited him to buy a car,, at the time he had a yellow LP400 for sale ,, he offered it to me for about £30000 , it was totally as new, and ended up in the hands of Toby Smith of JAMIROQUI,,FJO???S , I ended up buying a Golf gti i think.... what a mistake lol...
OUCH !! Finally after 8 years of having a big hole in the dash, lots of searching for the parts then having to buy a NOS Alpine just to use the mounting cage and the trim ring, I have a period correct Alpine 7273 installed.
completes the look, sounds great although the car is so loud I'll never turn it on as won't hear it. Very happy.

One of my pals worked with a guy in an opticians in Liverpool. The guy was ex-army but had made a killing in property in the 90s and allegedly owned two Countachs at that time. Does this ring any bells; owning two Countachs back when they were new and fetching £250k is some going.
I bought my Countach in 1993 off a chap who had two - a black one and a white one. He felt that he wasn’t using them enough, hence he was selling one. I picked white.
He sold tyres.

Brilliant that,,, i went out in that car as a 13 year old boy with that business man.......then it was registered JYH928N,,, much better in the original tahiti blue and tan trim though.
Was that Mike Lakes Countach, back in the Goodwood,Castle Coombe days would see it regularly along with his Daytona, Last saw it when it was being collected from Mike Pullens after it's restoration,
At the time i didn't realize it was the same blue car i used to see all those years previously.

I saw him with it and talked to him on numerous occasions about his cars, lovely chap, and he was kind enough to give me some laps, as a passenger, round Brands Hatch in around 1992 or thereabouts in that Countach.

No, I wasn't, but I did witness it. Mike said he's still in contact with Mike Lake but hasn't seen him for a while.

I've not seen Mike Lake for about twenty six years or so. I've often wondered how he is doing, he was always extremely nice to my very scruffy teenaged self, and everyone else, from what I heard, a real gentleman.

Mike Pullen was probably there that day too, I never really spoke to him, I don't think.

Think i mentioned this to you before that i always thought he was in a famous heavy metal rock band as was his appearanceI've not seen Mike Lake for about twenty six years or so. as he stuck out from the usual crowd of Lamborghini owners at that time,
These days with so many modern Lambo's there's all walks of life drive them ,
Did watch the video of the two Mikes racing the Orient Express in the Venice Challenge in 1991.
I suppose in a way the equivalent of the todays Gumballs, Happy days
Haha, I know what you mean, I never saw him dressed as if he was on his way to a gala ball.
I remember the race against the Orient Express, I think Mike Lake was due to win but went back to help a stricken Lancia Integrale.
I was tasked with washing his Daytona after the event.
I've never seen a more bug-splattered vehicle before or since!

A lovely story about the Daytona was that on his paper round there was a Daytona on one of the driveways which made a lasting impressionI remember the race against the Orient Express, I think Mike Lake was due to win but went back to help a stricken Lancia Integrale.

I've never seen a more bug-splattered vehicle before or since!
and later on in life when looking to buy a Daytona ended up viewing the very same car which he ended up buying ,
Think he is a man of impulse as he told me the story of meeting a girl at a London Club and after stopping off at her place
to get her passport they drove the Daytona to Rome that night just because he could,
Apologies if i've told these stories before ,memory not would it use to be.

They are great stories.
I did hear half a story about him once having a bit of fun with two ladies at the same time in the Daytona.
He once said to me that he would never sell that car, I don't know if he ever did.
Two Ladies in a Daytona Him and them must be double jointed. I did hear half a story about him once having a bit of fun with two ladies at the same time in the Daytona.

Took me a month to get over one in a 308 GT4 in my much younger days.
Mike would know if he's still got it,didn't think about asking him as we were talking about the Countach.
