On the main thread and separately I have been asked about arranging a CT meet in the UK.

Previously one of the Lambo UK club members had organised a 'Chateaux Run' abroad for members but it was mainly CT's that went. That isn't being organised this year. the club would be happy to support such an event and hope it wouldn't clash with any of theirs. I appreciate that many on here wont be in the club or like the idea of clubs. It isn't snobby, as they let me in!

Anyway, what is the view about organising an event and people supporting it? I have organised various events in Scotland including the Italian Car and Bike Day at Hopetoun house, where I had 350 cars and bikes and 3000 people paying to come in. I have also organised runs in Scotland for PH and non PH cars. I therefore have an idea about some of the issues and the amount of work that these events require.

My initial thinking is:

A country house hotel based venue, with a Friday/ Saturday overnight.
Plan to arrive Friday evening or Saturday before lunch.
A drive on Saturday including photo/ video taking. That would be ancillary to the drive and not the main purpose of it.
An informal dinner on Saturday night, to a fixed menu
A relaxed departure on Sunday.
Location in Yorkshire, but not a city centre or going into a city for the event.
Date in June
Open to any CT fan who wants to come whether with a CT or not, but not to replica CT's.

I appreciate you can never please everyone, so I it wont happen and those who organise need to make decisions and take the flak!

I know the Scottish CT owners want something and we could do that up here ourselves. However, if we could get say 15 CT's together at one time.............

Let me know your thoughts, good and bad.

Regards

Paul

Sounds like it could be a great idea Paul, I hope you get a lot of interest. What were your thoughts regarding a Scottish meeting? The weekend of 28th 29th June might be a date for that as I'm sure at least three owners will be around for Speedfest in Alford. It could incorporate a short road run Saturday and a road run plus visit to Speedfest Sunday. A Perthshire Hotel such as Ballathie House Hotel might be ideal location. Just a thought!

As a CT fan from Yorkshire it sounds like a brilliant idea.

I'm liking this idea! I will be attending (work permitting) if it is in John o'groats or Lands end!

Would love to attend in the Diablo.

As suggested on the other thread, any chance of making it a combined Countach / Diablo gathering?

Paul - I would do my best to make it, subject to final date. Couldn't do two nights, but could come on Saturday, back Sunday, driving from Edinburgh.

This what we did last year, it was a factory backed meeting in Oxfordshire and was the best I had ever attended, get the factory or their PR people involved and the organization is brilliant

How about the 6-8th June as a date?

It avoids fathers day and some events. It can never suit everyone.

I am not sure if it should be CT and diablo as the bigger the event the more difficult it is to plan. However, if people wanted to come along in a diablo, then they are more than welcome as would those who don't have a ct. However I think an overnight would be mandatory to join in?

Let me know. I can then check with s suitable hotel and get rates and a provisional room reservation and price. There is a big hotel in central york with car parking, but I could check the area out or get local feedback for a place and some nice routes to drive on.

I checked with the Royal /york Hotel. It has parking out front allegedly secure and would be reserved for us.

Can someone local let me know of country house hotels with at least 50 rooms in the york area?

Also nice driving roads with a good lunch stop and scenic traffic free drives! I know it is a contradiction in requests!

I went to 2 wedding receptions last year at country hotels near York

http://www.parsonagehotel.co.uk/ and Aldwark Manor, both should have enough rooms and parking. I would avoid Royal York hotel personally due to traffic congestion.

the Royal in york is a nightmare to get to especially now as the council in its "wisdom" has effectively closed Lendal Bridge to pedestrianise the area and caused total chaos. Aldwark is a few miles from my business and i would definitively attend at this venue and its a nice golfing estate, and as my garage is close by i would make the facilities/workshop available to any owner who may need any minor mechanical help. The Yorkshire section of PH is full of good ideas on driving roads around York and it may be a good idea to ask. But i know the area fairly well and can make some nice suggestions, for instance York to Helmsley a lovely little town to stop for tea/lunch and then on to Pickering and Thornton le Dale which is delightful and has a little odd car museum. Going north of Helmsley Red Car way has a stunning road more suited to Lambos although a beady eye is required for all the bikers in this area. And our friendly traffic officers.

Hi All smile
I agree with Stephen..... Adwark manor has loads of car parking space which could be reserved for the event .. Nice bar / spa facilities .... The run to Helmsley is 'the Gateway to the North Yorkshire TT circuit'.... Then on to Whitby for 'fish & chip' run !!...
Cheers. S driving

Hello fellow CT owners and others!

I have been in contact with a few of the places suggested on this thread and also as suggested on advice on the Yorkshire thread.

Most of the big venues are well used wedding venues and have lots of bookings over June which is peak wedding season.

I am waiting for prices and packages to be emailed to me. I am not sure if I will put the final details on the open forum in case it attracts the wrong type of attention. Any views on that

Could people confirm if they are interested and post and or email me? Could people give me an indication of what costs they would be prepared to accept for A nights stay and dinner per person?

It gives me some more to work on or to find alternative venues.

What is your budget for this type of event for two people per night. I have had some prices at about £250 per night which I think is a bit expensive for effectively a car get together
Can I have some views
