rarely seen images of the one and only Miura Jota seen at the Lamborghini factory - not any of the 4 or 5 Miura SVJ cars, certainly not one of the many poor-effort 'replicas' or even the more perfect-than-perfect recreation that is 1 OTA.

These are period images of the real thing before it was destroyed...

dwibble

1 OTA for comparison taken a few years ago at Brooklands...

dwibble

as a note regarding the attention to detail of 1 OTA compared to the real Jota, check out the triangular 'electrical' sticker on the front of the car and how much it flips down into the air intake just like the original car's sticker did - and that's just one of the thousands of things that show the gloriously obsessional depth of accuracy that abounds in 1 OTA!!

this was post number 151,000 on the F, M, L & B forums... do I get a prize?

Lovely images. There's also some cine film on youtube of the factory in the late 60s.

Oh, and that 1OTA. It may be the modern tyres, but the rear wheelarches done seem as low on 1OTA as they do on the original

There's a bloke who drinks in my local who worked for a Lamborghini agent in London in the 60s/70s. He has some amazing old photos of Miuras and Espadas in period... I promised him the photos of my trip to Sant Agata a few years ago, I should dig those out.

I think Michelin hadn't fully begun remaking XWX fitments at the time although (I think) a Pirelli Cinturato would have been used originally.

The owner of 1 OTA had to use what was available though I'm sure he will have addressed that by now, obsessions being how they are! He used to own another Miura (with him being one of the world's better known authorities on them), the famous ANM 90H which is still within LCUK and was seen at our annual dinner last year = sorry for posting this yet again...

1 OTA's owner loaned me his '87 pearl white quattro for a few weeks in 2000 - a similarly near-perfect car in some ways that I could have bought from him for less than £6k at the time... banghead

He may remember Del Hopkins then, though Del would have been quite junior in those days. Del is now retired but worked for most / all of the Lamborghini concessionaires in the UK from the late sixties until the early two thousands and has just asked/agreed to become LCUK's technical consultant. His knowledge is vast, his reputation impeccable, his villa in Spain kind o' cool and has the ability to make me feel not-in-the-least sorry for him when he complains that some evenings in the winter it gets a little chilly smile

above: another unique Lamborghini that Del (and crew) rebuilt a few years ago!

While researching classic speedboats I came across this promotional picture..

A rather apt pairing as the boat in question was considered one of the best and fastest at the time. Not quite 1960's, but I thought some might appreciate it.

That's an excellent picture... I'll get to the point - do you have it in reasonably hi-res data and any words that might apply and if you do, can you send the stuff to me to feature in LCUK's upcoming Club magazine??

There was quite a business link between Lamborghini and Riva in the late fifties and sixties - is that boat a Riva of any kind?

I believe that Ferruccio Lamborghini converted the engine in his Riva Aquarama to the engine (give or take a bit) of an Espada which were then in production - no idea what happened to the boat, but somebody I know may well remember it...

I know I've posted these pictures before but I don't think there's a law against reposting images on PH!

Did I tell the story about Rod Stewarts Miura? . . . and the patina removed!

David, I have the bad habit to visit the London-area every spring. Please invite me when there's a Lambo-meet around that time mate biggrin

Obviously we have much to discuss.

It would be an idea if you were visiting the Lancashire area as I'm not usually in the Sarf East more than every so often... having said that, I'll been down there in the next week or so at a friends silver wedding anniversary. Their 'little boy' will be 23 next week... Tempus fugit!

Keep your eyes on the LCUK website and you'll see event dates that will soon be happening; the main event page lets the viewer scroll through what's coming up. I'll email you soon anyway Albert...

In the meantime:

and also:

which is for sale dribble

It is rather nice isn't it smile

I've sent you a mail with more details on, but for the record it isn't a Riva. I do know that Lamborghini do make powerboat engines and have had a lot of successes in offshore powerboat racing. The Espada V12 was first put in a Molinari speedboat which was so successful he commissioned a newly designed engine purely for racing speedboats. I don't know of any link with Riva, but no doubt he would have known of Riva and may well have experimented with their boats too.

They use two Lamborghini V12's in offshore boats now.. an insane amount of power!

I'll ask him, I should see him on Wednesday. I forget the name of the chap he used to work with; who had the first Lamborghini concession over here?
