Seriously - how indeed do you top a night like this?

That evening, I was invited to attend the official launching of McLaren Kuala Lumpur - the star attraction being of course the white P1 prototype that was previously seen in China. There was also a 12C Can Am there which had been bought by a local Malaysian.

I had a close look around both cars, but of course the bulk of my time was spent drinking in every detail of the P1 and just savoring being in its presence.

Best of all, I got to spend a significant amount of time with McLaren Automotive Head of Design Frank Stephenson Santos sitting in the P1 as he talked me around the car in detail.

Frank was an awesomely nice guy - when I told him who I was, from McLarenLife and Facebook, he greeted me as an old friend and shared many of his passions, inspirations and opinions on both the P1 and other cars. In addition to the P1 itself, it was how well I was treated as a dedicated McLaren enthusiast that truly made it a night to remember.

Back to that original question - how do you top a night like that? Well, as a McLaren enthusiast.... With a day like the next one.

The next day, I went back to spend an entire day with the P1.

A huge shout out of thanks again to my friends at McLaren Kuala Lumpur, the people at McLaren Automotive who permitted the P1 to be shown here, and especially Frank Stephenson Santos for an awesome night to remember!

Here are 20 photos I've selected to give an idea of what I had the joy and pleasure of experiencing.

The scene outside McLaren Kuala Lumpur upon first arrival - they had a Volcano Orange 12C parked out front.

Inside the guest holding area, they had this gorgeous 12C Can Am Edition to keep us entertained before the P1's big reveal.

The pure, focused interior of the 12C Can Am Edition.

No McLaren cupcakes here - instead we had miniature McLaren carrot cakes! They tasted pretty good too.

The P1, waiting patiently for its unveiling here in Malaysia.

My first live view of the P1 - it was a special moment indeed.

Every millimeter of the P1 is purpose built to serve a specific function - these aerodynamic surfaces on the door are beautifully made and wonderfully complex and beguiling to behold.

This was one of those unexpected, just got lucky shots - the McLaren Speed Marque is precisely reflected in the glass roof panel just next to the primary air intake.

McLaren Automotive Head of Design Frank Stephenson Santos having a light moment with the lovely ladies who helped unveil the P1.

Doors up.

Arrived early this morning to find the 12C Can Am Edition stored in a quiet corner prior to being transported out to a location of the owner's choosing - a great start to an unforgettable day.

The size of that wing is simply epic.

The 12C Can Am's front splitter, dive plane, and radiator exit aero surfaces.

630Bhp is kicked out by this ultimate racing evolution of the McLaren M838T engine.

12C Can Am exposed.

First shot of the P1 in early daylight - what a wonderful way to start a morning off.

Every few steps and millimeters, I literally found a fascinating new angle or detail to capture. I've never seen a car quite like this - then again, no one has.

High angled shot with doors open - they'd also moved the 12C Can Am outside to join the Volcano Orange 12C, as it awaited its transporter.

The sexiest tail lights I've seen on any car - Function = Form = Beauty indeed.

In case you were wondering - yes, an iPhone 5 does slot nicely into the P1's center console bay, right next to the USB and 3.5mm audio ports, and the cupholder which in this case holds the P1's key.

Good to see that McLaren has incorporated everything you need to make the P1 a proper road car - and nothing you don't need wink

Have a great one folks, hope you all enjoy the photos.
