Any difference buying in Mclaren dealers or at specialist?

Starting to look at a 12C in the classifieds & noticed the lack of pre-owned 12C within the Mclaren dealers. Is there much difference between buying at a specialists compared with a official Mclaren dealer?? Can one add a Mclaren warranty onto cars bought outside of the network, similar to the situation like in Porsche??
Ideally would like to buy outside of the network due to greater choice available & then add a Mclaren warranty afters..

Talk to Alastair Bols , he used to work at Mclaren London .He will help you find a car and can answer any questions.

Have a care about the warranty extension costs. Suggestions are that the cost of extending the 3 year manufacturer warranty is going to prove to be quite significant.....

I hear that a McL dealer won't give you a bid on a car you want to sell, hence lack of dealer pre-owned cars!!! McL warranty will be circa £3k per yr after original runs out, also servicing circa £2k plus consumables per year---be carefull out there.

There's a reason these cars are cheap! smile

Servicing is only 2k every other year for the hydraulic suspension fluid replacement. it's about half that otherwise.

Sorry to disagree but service £2.8k, following year fluid change £1.2k -average £2k a year as quoted by a main dealer last year

Not looking to get into a 'bun fight' of course smile

Alright, don't doubt that's what you were quoted but I can say in all honesty I did not pay 2.8k for the 2nd year service last year.....

My first service was £1200 and second was £1800 (Incl ISG and Suspension service) Where are you getting the costs from?

Only quoting what I was told by main dealer last year- and no I'm not a fan of Ferrari, see my garage pic for what I really like

What other costs are involved long term. I'm looking to buy a new 911 but I can't get the 12c out of my head. I plan to keep the car for a long time and had planned to keep a Porsche warranty on the 911 for as long as possible 3k for a 12c warranty is a fair chunk of change that could be put in a rainy day fund just in case something went wrong. What worries me though is if things do go wrong just how big are the bills likely to be ? Does anyone have any examples of work that's had to be done outside the normal service schedule ? Or are most of the cars still covered by the original warranty ?
Is it really a case of supercar = super prices. I can afford the car and normal running cost but that doesn't meen I've an endless amounts of cash. I know the 911 will be cheaper to keep on the road but by how much ?

It was supposed to preview at the Goodwood festival of speed in June but that may have been put back now with the GT3 problems

I've owned two 12C's and absolutely loved them.Bought both from Rybrook who I couldn't recommend more highly.One thing I believe to be true is that if you buy an approved car you get access to the various upgrades now being offered to get the 12C 'closer' to the 650S at a discount vs if you buy from a specialist.

I am probably totally wrong,but it looks to me,given the prices of servicing/warranties etc that the 'approved' cars are cheaper?Having said that perhaps the cars from specialists are all approved.I'd make sure I asked all the right questions though were I buying outside of the dealer network.

Mine came from Top555 and you still do get the up-grades, the same as everybody else.
