JWW owns the 675LT.

I think they missed the point of the 720s but then again I haven't driven one yet.

JWW has also ordered a 720S IIRC.

Cannot wait for mine, McLaren have smashed it out of the park!
Reviews are exactly as I expected, bar a Youtuber or two... wink

It seems some of the youtuber whining may be because they missed out on a track drive of the car and only drove it on the road. The other main whine seems to be that the exhaust isn't obnoxious enough.

Even Evo's review complains about the whooshing and hissing - which as someone points out in the comments was apparently not a problem when they drove the Pagani Huayra!

I doubt McLaren care too much - they're sold out already.

As for the youtubers - at least they can all do 'I just got a new exhaust!!!! zomg!!!' videos five minutes after taking delivery of their 720s.

Maybe it's time to relaunch Max Power magazine?

That said, I haven't specced sports exhaust on mine - but have already been looking into a little something to help with the reported lack of obnoxiousness. Will take delivery to hear it first hand though, prior to ordering anything up.

And then I will do some nauseatingly predictable click bait videos on the topic, before wrapping it. Lolz.

Sorry? It's a regular production vehicle with a projected run of well over 5 thousand. It's sold out only in Mclaren's dreams.

If you were to stroll into a dealer now, you'll be quoted a wait of around a year. But no, not sold out AFIAK, just a long lead time - and getting longer by the day after all these reviews, and an upcoming Top Gear appearance.

JWW has just put his video out. I don't understand his conclusion - it seems contradictory when compared to his reactions whilst driving it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO4mLNpcY1o

Maybe he is reluctant to admit that it is better than the 675LT, which he owns?

Why would he care? he has a 720S on order...

Of course he might care, irrespective of the fact he has a 720s on order. It was a speculative question from me to potentially explain the rather odd conclusion given the immense enjoyment he demonstrated whilst driving it.

I just don't understand the conclusions of any of the Youtubers. They seem dumbstruck.

But then again who cares what anyone of them thinks?

Conclusion seemed clear to me.
Game changing accomplishment in all areas.... but not spine tingling.
Still more efficient than emotive then..?

The blurry line between track only and road only....

Will be interesting to see McLarens response, especially to a window-based Yootoober.

I seem to remember the 12C being described in the same format? Crushingly capable but soulless.

I remember (I think...) Clarkson saying the Ferrari was a pair of stockings, but the 12c a pair of tights... make of that what you will

Having watched most of the videos now and heard the conclusions from the “professional” reviewers, the more I think about it the more I find the comments from the “YouTubers” even dafter than I originally thought.
And I think this comes down to a certain amount of immaturity in the YouTuber ranks. If you look at their personal cars, how and where they use them and what they bleat on about in their videos they all appear to want an attention seeking wrapped, daft exhaust point and squirt machine.
SOL and STG comments about the car being too quiet, too easy to see out of and too good!!! Their reviews are just incoherent and just smack of kids needing an instant sugar rush.
My JWW does not seem to be able to distinguish between the fact that this is a 650s and not an LT replacement, the cars should net be compared. And he is the only one of the bunch is the only one who’s opinion I normally respect
I think it’s also significant that the YouTubers were not given any track time, do McLaren not trust them or respect their opinions?

Genuinely don't really understand why people put so much belief into car reviews, both from the 'pro' journalists and the car kardashians. Most of the time the 'pro' guys have written the reviews based on the badge of the car rather than the actual driving of it and one can pretty much predict with a fair degree of accuracy what they will come up with even before it's released and for the other bunch, well, the less said the better.

Your comment about the "pro" guys, with the greatest respect what evidence do you have to back that statement up?

Not wishing to answer for Isaldri, but Evo slating the 'woosh' noises instead of a 'proper' engine note, whilst loving the same in both P1 and Huyara?

Just reading some of the various nonsense written over the years it gets far far too predictable. Mclaren - technologically competent but clinical, Ferrari - passion/history etc, Porsche GT car - doesn't understeer like the last one (which we were told doesn't understeer anymore when it came up). The supreme test of a car is dirfting it on a circuit screaming 'wow wow wow' at the camera. It's all very lazy journalism imo and I'm pretty convinced most of the time the reviewers have made their mind up about a car long before actually driving the thing.

The gap between what reviewers say about a car and the actual owner experience of driving it is imo getting further and further apart.

So Mr JWW seems a bit luke warm after a short drive on the road. In my experience that's what these techno-fest bonkers fast cars seem to deliver. Laugh out loud ridiculous acceleration, cornering and braking and after that, "well, it's awesome but......" What's next, the 820s?
