What is the wisdom regarding the LT and how it stacks up against the new generation McLarens starting with the 720. There are quite a few LTs in the classifieds and they don't really seem to move. Are cars still fetching large premiums or has the arrival of the 720 put a dampener on prices of second hand LTs.

Isn't this a bit premature? Has anyone in the real world driven the 720 yet?

To be fair are many of the cars priced above £175k moving?

Same bunch of Aventadors , 458, 488, 650s, 675LT have been listed for well over 6 months.

This has just popped up - see how long that hangs around - seems well priced?

Never you mind

It's been for sale for a while. Was originally being sold with a White Speciale as a pair.

I thought it was , but didn't remember it having the bright green brakes?

They were advertised as a pair for £699k and I see the Speciale at £338k - so some significant movement.

That's what I originally thought - no green brakes.

That's what I thought at first but it looks like it's purely an investment thread.

Investment thread? That's a bit touchy - the OP asked whether the LT commanded big premiums over list and I highlighted a recent LT for sale at a decent price relative to others that have been on sale for a while.

At no point has the discussion turned to whether it's "good value" , "have they bottomed" etc etc.

It was a factual response. Big difference between knowing where something is trading NOW versus speculating on what it might be worth in the future- which nobody knows.

I think the LT is something special and won't automatically be knocked off its perch by the 720. I think the 675LT and to a lesser extent the 650 and 12C have something "McLaren" about them that the 720 has lost regardless of its almost certain bonkers performance. The 720 looks a bit fussy and overdone to my eye and the 12c looks better now that the 720 has been unveiled somehow.

I think the LT will always do well because of what it is, even if McLaren release things that are faster/better or whatever. That car at Alastair Bols looks like good value....

And my comment wasn't in reply to the OP, it was in response to:-

"Isn't this a bit premature? Has anyone in the real world driven the 720 yet?"

I even quoted the question I was responding to.

If the thread titled '720 vs LT' is actually about premiums and values of one McLaren against another, I'm not sure a reference to it being an 'investment' thread rather than a performance comparison is that misplaced, "touchy" nope, not me.

The white car is list, I don't call that 'dropping so much'.
720 a different kettle. Know people know will have both.

The 720 will be very different to a 675 only if specced in 'comfort' spec. A similarly outfitted 720 (bucket seats, trofeo tyres) will imo be very close in driving experience to a 675. Whether the "LT" badge retains desirability just for the badge itself remains to be seen I think.

I think the LT will remain as the Speciale is to the 458 and the 720 LT will be the car to put the 675 maybe in the shade. However I reckon the 675 LT will be sort after for some time. Which is a shame really as most will become garage queens!

Strange and definite assumption?

LT now redundant and plummeting prices are in part reflecting this.

The problem with the rate of progression these days is the next gen vanilla model always murders the outgoing uber-LE on all counts ... comfort, useability, straight line speed, circuit performance. The 720 just will do everything better.

Now if you have a collectable brand like Ferrari or Porsche that dosn't matter so much. Just look at prices of say 599 GTO or 997 3.8 RS. But Mclaren aren't there yet, too high risk and not enough accumulated heritage and desirability.

Assumption yes. Strange - perhaps, but with all due respect I think i have a more experience of how the Mclaren range (ex P1) has evolved over the years and how they drive with different options and it's a considered guess about what the 720 will be like.
