Currently own a McLaren road car in the UK?

Then why not join us at Silverstone Classic on Sunday 30th July and help us break the record for the largest gathering of McLaren's the world has seen as a celebration for what would have been Bruce McLaren's 80th year.

Take part in a track parade during the fantastic Silverstone Classic race meeting! Join and meet fellow owners from across the UK for this unique gathering of these fabulous cars, all in one place at the same time.

As an recognised car club at the event, McLaren Owners UK will have a dedicated display area with members present throughout the day, and can offer owners discounted entry (2 for 1) to the event with infield parking via a discount code. Additionally all registered cars will take part in a track parade during the lunch break.

The Silverstone Classic is three days of historic racing at its best, with some amazing machines present and loads of activities taking place across the site. The track parade and record will be set on the Sunday.

If you are not already a member of the Owners' Group, then to take part in this great event, register below and receive further details by return and have your name added to the list.

Update 05/05/17 - over 50 Confirmed Entries - We need 80 for Bruce's 80th and to beat the world record set in Japan last year.

Did the 1000 Ferrari one a few years back and just puts into context the volumes and exclusivity of McLaren in comparison.
If I can get missus to drive as well I will be there with my 2

Is it possible to sign up without joining facebook? A condecending message telling me how to join Facebook as though the only reason I wasn't on Facebook was due to my computing inadequacy is not what I was looking for personally.

It is indeed possible to attend without joining the FB group, hence the open request on PH. The response you get is not requiring you to join the FB group or condescending in any way, an extract of the text you will see is copied below, if you register your details you will see the full text and details of the discount code for the 2 for 1 ticket offer.

"Thank you for registering for the Big McMeet at Silverstone, the national gathering of McLarens organised by the McLaren Owners UK Group. We have added your details to our list to allow us to compile numbers attending. Our aim is to beat the most number of cars in one place set at Fuji Circuit in Japan last year where there were 70 cars present......You may also wish to join our ever increasing membership within the group which stands in excess of 230 at present. We operate a secure Facebook page for continuous support and chat about all things McLaren, enhancing the ownership experience for many"

We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you there with as many McLarens as possible to create this world record. We now have over 50 cars confirmed and growing.

You are surprised that a manufacturer that has been making cars for 70 years has made more than one that has been in business for 6 ?

Dear all, could you please keep this post related to the relevant content, we are trying to arrange a world record meeting of McLaren's and don't want the thread hijacked by side issues. If you want to debate anything outside of this could you please start a new post. Many thanks for your assistance.

Sorry for the late night (and home brew cider fuelled) rant about facebook, and thank you for the gracious reply.

I've signed up and looking forward to it

52 cars now confirmed as attending, so don't be sceptical about this event, it is happening. Check your diaries, get in touch and get the admission tickets booked before the 2 for 1 offer finishes at the end of May.

The idea is to try and beat this at the Fuji circuit last year, if they can do around 70 cars in Japan, then surely we can better it here in Blighty?

Did a parade lap at SC a couple years ago. Thought it would be cr*p, but turned out to be a great event. Track is silky smooth and, if the lineup is not too big, you can hang back and spread out the cars and open up the taps. Possible to get close to 200mph on one or two parts of the lap if the car is fast enough (which most Maccas will be).

Anyone on the sidelines or umming and aahing about this should def go. The SC is the world's biggest classic car show and getting access to a parade lap is the cherry on top. If it is a world record, it may get in the Guinness Book.

I'll be there if the 720S turns up in time, (even with the recent delays, delivery is due before this)
Sounds fun!

STOP PRESS... Amanda McLaren has accepted our invite to be our guest on the 30th July for the National Meet at Silverstone and take part in the track parade.

We are still working hard to secure other guests, special cars and hospitality. We have also today applied to Guinness World Records to have the parade officially recognised as the largest ever gathering of McLaren's in the world.

We really would appreciate as many McLaren's as possible coming, please do not forget to buy your 2 for 1 tickets, as the offer expires at the end of May.

Thanks Atomic, there are other smaller regional gatherings and breakfast meets from time to time in the Owners' Group if you ever want to hook up sometime. There's over 230 members now from Thurso down to deepest Cornwall, and from Northern Ireland to Kent talking everyday about the cars, events and some general banter. UK owners are all welcome to connect with the club.

For anybody who hasn't experienced a Silverstone Classic parade lap I should point out that parts of the above are utter nonsense.

It's a parade lap, there will be a circuit car leading the group and there will be no opportunity to exceed 100mph never mind get close to 200mph.

Having done one for the Aston anniversary two years ago it is great fun and a lovely feeling to be surrounded by fellow owners and having people waving from all around the circuit. It is not though a speed fest so no idea why this chap has claimed as such.

I've done parade laps at other circuits and as stated it is always behind a pace car to restrict any over enthusiasm which is understandable, but there's sometimes an opportunity to open the taps especially if you are nearer the back. biggrin

Anyway 71 cars down to attend at this moment in time, we can accommodate more than 80 if you still fancy joining in. Just make sure you get in touch soon as advance discounted admission and parking tickets are only available until 31st May.

BTW RL is not attending at the moment, so no need to stay away! laugh
