Update....

The target of 80 cars has been exceeded, but Silverstone is a big place so there's plenty of room for more cars to join in.

A dedicated display area for all the cars in one place, a lunchtime track parade and a fabulous day's racing, what's not to like?

19 12C Coupe
4 12C Spider
3 650S Coupe
25 650S Spider
5 675LT Coupe
7 675LT Spider
8 540C
12 570S
1 570GT
1 720S
1 P1
86 Total

Discounted tickets and infield parking passes available until 31st May, don't dawdle!

The first target of 80 cars has been well and truly smashed, our list currently stands at 101.

It's going to be quite a colourful turnout... biggrin

Did a parade lap at SC a couple years ago. Thought it would be cr*p, but turned out to be a great event. Track is silky smooth and, if the lineup is not too big, you can hang back and spread out the cars and open up the taps. Possible to get close to 200mph on one or two parts of the lap if the car is fast enough (which most Maccas will be).

Anyone on the sidelines or umming and aahing about this should def go. The SC is the world's biggest classic car show and getting access to a parade lap is the cherry on top. If it is a world record, it may get in the Guinness Book.
For anybody who hasn't experienced a Silverstone Classic parade lap I should point out that parts of the above are utter nonsense.

It's a parade lap, there will be a circuit car leading the group and there will be no opportunity to exceed 100mph never mind get close to 200mph.

Having done one for the Aston anniversary two years ago it is great fun and a lovely feeling to be surrounded by fellow owners and having people waving from all around the circuit. It is not though a speed fest so no idea why this chap has claimed as such.
Lol.

That was an Aston lap for old crusties wink

100% guarantee that in proper supercars on a spaced-out lap, it is easily possible to get close to 200mph on the long and smooth straights.

If the McLaren crew know the score, they will hang back, open up some gaps, and give it the beans.

100% guarantee that you won't.

Even with a committed driver on a clear track, a P1 will top out at around 160 mph before running out of road at Silverstone. Add in 100+ other cars on track, many of whom will be driving sedately in parade-mode, and you'll find that you have no idea what you're talking about in the real world.

You can.

A P1 will go from zero (standstill) to 180mph in 800m. The longest flatout section at Silverstone is well over 1000m. From rolling, it is easily doable to get close to 200mph.

On paper, and in reality (having done it), you can get within striking distance of 200mph on a parade lap.

Glad to guide if you need further help.

For the record, a P1 in the hands of a very capable GT3 driver did a best of 175 on Hangar straight on a Pure McLaren day last week using boost mode and DRS, and he was not constrained in any way.

Ours will be a much slower and equally enjoyable experience no doubt which is fine. wink

Anyway, are there any other owners who fancy joining us?

It's a parade lap.

Deposit paid on a 12C Coupe, collect in a couple of weeks from McLaren Ascot and so have applied to join the 100+ other lucky owners. Hope I am not too late and qualify on the promise that we will have the car in just a couple of weeks.

Similar here - picking new car up when it arrives at the dealer ( any day apparently.....) - have bought tickets using the private reg I intend to put on the car but can't register the car with the owners club given I don't have it yet. OP - any issues with this do you think?

Looking forward to it , all being well car should be run in by then!

If you've registered your car via the Owners' Group website and bought your tickets, then all is good. Once you have your car, get back in touch with us and we will sort the rest out.

Discount offer on Silverstone admission finishes this week (Wednesday).

Totally appreciate the track parade is in the lap of the gods on the day, but at least it will be the largest gathering of McOwners in the UK/Elsewhere and an opportunity to have a get together and a good old natter.

Today is the last day for purchasing the discounted admission tickets and infield parking passes for the Silverstone Classic Car Display Area.

Currently we have 124 cars which allowing for the many expected breakdowns on the circuit should see us exceed the 80 we wanted in the first place!

AA vans will however be conveniently positioned at all points around the circuit and throughout Northamptonshire.

There's no excuse not to join us is there? laugh

"allowing for the many expected breakdowns"

Are McLarens that unreliable that they can't be expected to complete a lap?

Tongue in cheek remark sir, some would think they aren't capable of doing so!
