Yes, I'd noticed a sudden drop in 650 asking prices and wondered if it was a reflection of the fact that apparently 720s aren't collecting premiums, combined with the fact that as 650 owners move to the 720 there will be more on the market?
Who was ever stupid enough to think that a 720s would attract a premium?? Deluded fools...I personally don't like the 720s from any angle... and I don't think I'm the only one. I know it's obviously a step up from the 650s in every aspect etc, but my attraction to a car means a lot in what I like. I love the front of the 650s, but don't exactly love the rear, but I'm hoping by changing the exhaust exit pipes to more akin to 675LT satin round pipes will help.
So values of 650s... seem very reasonable to me and I've literally made the descision in the last couple of days based on the price as I thought they would be a lot more, but what I'm really thinking is that they have probably very much levelled out... here's hoping anyway!! 😀👍🏻

Ive been to look at the 720 (love it the flesh far more than in photos) Seen a 675LT, want one, but i'm unwilling to pay a £150k price difference, and looked round an F12. Glorious looking, but prices asked have gone higher this year despite the 812 and an £80k pick up over a 650.
Then I come back and see my McLaren Orange 650S, and I just can't think of why I would change it. It's got under my skin over the last two years so it is here to stay.

I'm looking at perhaps getting into a 650s spider in the next year, moving on from my nice but increasingly outdated AM V8V.
What do people think is going to happen to 650 spider prices in the next year? They are slightly out of budget at the moment. Will people getting into 720 over the next year or two push prices down much? Havent seen much market impact yet other than the glut of 650LTs. Will we see a sub 150k decent 650 spider in the near term?
Crystal ball gazing stuff of course but I'd be grateful for opinions.
This is exactly where the trade bids are coming in on my car (today) ......so slightly older, higher mile car next year will be close to £140k What do people think is going to happen to 650 spider prices in the next year? Yeah but trade bids are at least £20k behind going into winter and in spring there is a rebound. You wont actually buy a car retail at £140k next year unless its low spec and high miles. 12C prices which are strong will prop up 650S.The depreciation curve has flattened now so it depends on the whole market place

I appreciate your optimism The depreciation curve has flattened now so it depends on the whole market place
Ive had little interest from private buyer at £159k - and strong interest from dealers (at circa 5% to 6% below this)
There isn't really a private Maclean buyers mkt - so trade bids set the mkt value (for sellers)

With most people buying on finance and having to px, I think this will always be the case. The Trade doesn't take prisoners when bidding on a McLaren - cut your loses and move on.Romans have got a grey car for £149k

good advise.....probably will sell to trade or just keep until next spring when the 720 arrives Romans have got a grey car for £149k
Romans grey coupe needs a warranty pretty much ASAP - so plus £3,500
as well as probably a service (no mention of it being done recently and its just coming up to its 3rd year anniversary )..so that another £1,500, has nearly 3 times the mileage of mine & is 6 months older than mine...will need tyres if not recently done (at circa £2k a set) etc etc
all these probably justify the a £5k delta ???
In the past getting rid of a 1 year old McLaren has not been easy at circa £180k because you were pretty much limited to McLaren dealers who would kick you in the nuts. Now prices have dropped and the brand is more established increasing demand more traders are prepared to buy them.
Agree prices are all over the place but the trade bid I had on mine from a McLaren dealer when I was looking at possibly purchasing a competitors car was quite reasonable and above what you are quoting.
I think they liked the spec, colour and mileage etc and may even of had a customer looking for one. There are a lot of factors that can effect the price eg what you have highlighted on the Romans car and that's reflected in the price and maybe will be factored into a deal rather than be discounted from the asking price.
650S wont drop below 12C and they have stopped dropping, rebounded and flattened so the gap isn't that great anymore eg 12C spider at £145k retail

It's a Spider not a Coupe. I heard of a 63 plate 12c Spider with 18k being bought for £90k by a dealer last week. It did however require a front end respect due to stone chips

Ad says till Oct 2017 - so little or no warranty left. TP321 said:

Id be surprised if this was a straight RHD car. I have had two trade bids (buy outright not SOR or PX) , at £148k and £150k - so this the minimum mkt value (at trade), retail is going to be higher.

8ullst. That's a £130k car Retail and unless its a cat D, repo and complete shed no sane person is going to accept £40k behind.I heard of a 63 plate 12c Spider with 18k being bought for £90k by a dealer last week. It did however require a front end respect due to stone chips

Typical spread is £20 k allowing for recon and a warranty etc
You do make me laugh though. I'm waiting for the day you post "Someone had to pay the dealer to take their McLaren off them".
They way you make stories up and talk reality down it should only be a few more weeks
Its so obvious you want one but simply don't have a big enough budget

I was offered a 23k mile 11 plate 12C this time last year for 87k. That was more than was offered (blind) by Ascot in px for a 570. Few issues, biggest being gearbox leak. No warranty. That was a step to far at upto 27k for a new box. Shame I found out soon after I'd turned it down that BDM can fix the seals for relative peanuts. Same old story trotted out time after time. 1 car out of 3,500 ;sleep:

Just checked out BDMs web site - the service on a 650s is a 1/3 what I paid just a couple of months ago fir me. Looks like they could be an alternative to the franchise dealer network for earlier cars.
Ps this £87k car falls into the 'story' category - no warranty and leaking gearbox....as you have discovered, it could have been sorted relatively cheaply but I assume the seller wasn't aware of this.
