Just started to look at the spider, are these selling well at present or have the current available cars been on the market for some time.
Talk to Alistair Bols, he's sold a few recently. I reckon a nice one can be had for 135/140k.Once I dropped the price (so it was the cheapest RHD sypder on Autotrader) I had 8 calls within 48 hours - so demand (at the right price) is there.
It was 2015 car, high spec, 6k miles, newly serviced with plenty of factory warraty left.

Really you know more than me then ?
I may of turned down 2 good offers to buy it in the last year but actively sell it no I'm afraid your wrong
Perhaps you should reread your first post on this thread. It says you are thinking about selling, so don't act precious if someone comments similarly.I may of turned down 2 good offers to buy it in the last year but actively sell it no I'm afraid your wrong

Was that post over 12 months ago and don't the words thinking of selling mean its just a thought and it will be sold in the future and not the past. With pretty much every car I have owned I'm immediately thinking of future replacements and when I might want to sell. The 650S spider has been so good there has been very little in over 3 years that I would of sold her for even for the same money let alone over twice the price
If you are interested I can send you some details by pm in advance of it hitting the open market if its not already sold by then

12C dropped, bottomed out and bounced back after 4 years. 650S has always been stronger than the 1st incarnation but will probably follow a similar pattern albeit supported underneath more by 12C and rapidly growing brand awareness and demand.
An early low spec 4 year old 650S spider at £150k could pretty much be the low point from which they return especially if 720S are retailing used near list at circa £250k next year which others are predicting. £100k or 67% more to upgrade to 720S is a big jump hard for anyone to justify
650S is fantastic value for money. Unbelievable and way better than anything else at that pricepoint IMHO.
Christ I'm convincing myself rather than considering selling I should buy a 2nd one - off to the classifieds before they all get snapped up, when they are gone they are gone
This was part of an exchange I had with you almost a year ago on this topic and it’s all turned out to be complete nonsense as was pretty obvious at the time. If you’d rushed out and bought another one back then, you’d be at least £20k down by now. Coupes looking like value at less than £120k now though. £20k per annum for supercar motoring is, with no disrespect, small change TBH.I lost £30k in 11 months and a 1,000 miles on an Audi RS4. 50% of its value at the time not 15% .
Its all relative but well worth it IMHO. For me McLaren make some of the best cars out there and if you want to enjoy the very best it costs money.
Some people go on 7 star all inclusive holidays and others go 3 star self catering. Might be in the same resort but the experience is totally different.
McLaren can't compete with Ferrari as a brand quite yet but personally I would say their product is actually better.
I tend to buy a product and not a brand.
I've got a mate who is brand crazy and won't buy anything unless its a recognised label.
It would be boring if we all shared the same view and liked the same things

That’s fine but a completely different argument as you are now saying the depreciation is worth it. Your previous argument was values going up, underpinned by 12c having bottomed out (hasn’t happened and was never going to); and supported from above by used 720s selling at list (hasn’t happened and was never going to).I lost £30k in 11 months and a 1,000 miles on an Audi RS4. 50% of its value at the time not 15% .

You weren’t rushing out to buy another 650s because you were happy to take the hit on two cars rather than one! “When they’re gone they’re gone” was your quote. Well, they are still there and a fair bit cheaper than a year ago.
I enjoyed my 650s but the depreciation was painful for an occasional use car, quality was a bit patchy and dealer support not the best. Any argument that says values are going up has zero credibility imho. £100k 650s is not far off I reckon.
I think these cars are now/will soon be (depending on your financial situation) at a level where they make an excellent case for a daily driver that is not too expensive to own. Wonder how they would do in snow and ice in the longer term. If I had enough money to buy one and keep my FF for when I need 4wd/4 seats, i’d Be tempted (probably more so by the 12c though as I slightly prefer the imo more cohesive design)
Already got the snowboard roof rack that I could fit on it

See the 12C thread. It's the huge expense of running them (some deliberately unserviceable parts, £1000 labour to swap the rear lights, interconnected hydraulic system etc) dearth of parts supply, poor dealer support and total lack of independent specialists that is hurting their values.
So much back biting!
You can't take your well earned money with you when the big man comes calling so you takes your choice and accept the cost - simples.
Better to have actually experienced a Super Car (and taken the financial hit) rather than just dream about it (and complain on forums) in my book.
RamboLambo - has been discussing (I was a potential buyer when he comes to sell) letting his 650S Spider go as and when he has a replacement in his garage which is sensible planning ahead if you ask me.
I have a number of cars in my ownership and most were bought as "keepers" but I regularly discuss selling various cars with interested parties as it is always nice the shuffle the pack as there are always still cars "on the bucket list" that I haven't owned.
Not just talking about big £ money Super Cars here either as my collection ranges from MK1 MX5 to McLaren and each offers it own different perspective on the joy of driving.
