I think you misunderstood Bispal's post. It is the 650S in coupe form specifically that is very rare.
12C's were initially launched in coupe form ahead of there being a choice of coupe & spider. As soon as the spider option was available 4/5 buyers bought spiders. (Being a carbon fibre tub there really is no disadvantage to a spider over a coupe).
When 650S was launched you could buy it in either coupe or spider form from day 1. As 4 out of 5 buyers chose Spiders, the coupes are therefore comparatively rare.
As the 12C was only available as a coupe for the first 2 years, the overall coupe:spider ratio is more balanced (when looking at total numbers of 12C's over its entire production life).

I'd would never have guessed at there being so few 650S's in RHD,

Whilst I have a spider, I must say that the coupe lines are definitely better enough to warrant consideration12C's were initially launched in coupe form ahead of there being a choice of coupe & spider. Hard to beat open top motoring It's adds another level to the experience although I also think car sounds best with roof up and rear window down.
Why doesn't the coupe have a feature similar to this ?

I think that, as is the case with a lot of these hard top convertible's, it works when the roofs down but looks slightly odd with it up. The amount of shutlines doesn't help especially when set against one of the brighter paint scheme's. gigglebug said:

Very rarely drive a convertible with the roof up even in winter Put it up when parked up though

Just as it should be. Never really cared for one myself though to be honest but can appreciate why so many prefer them all the same. I like having a decent sunroof or preferably a large panoramic to let plenty of light in but too self conscious to be in full view the whole time. The sound of wind noise, along with flies buzzing, are the two most annoying things I can think of hearing which doesn't help the case either. Hearing more of the engine is the only advantage I can personally see unless I'm missing something else? I'd constantly have the windows down at lower speeds in my Alfa 147 to hear it better, glorious engine that was. Put it up when parked up though

It doesn't feel that "open" in the McLaren, the rear buttresses enclose you quite a lot and you sit quite low. gigglebug said:

You though sir, take internet weirdness to another level. You seem to have a real problem with McLaren and have devoted almost the entirety of your recent posting history trying to devalue the brand and show owners the error of their ways.
It’s very strange behaviour.
Exactly ! certain people come on here to purely knock mclaren and goad me and actually dont contribute or add anything to any other thread. It’s very strange behaviour.
At least I have an opinion on most subjects and don't confine my posts to trolling.
I think they see me as an easy victim and don't like it when I give it back.
Notice how they all gang up like bullies in the playground.
Just look back at their posts and you will see the pattern. It's a real shame that they de rail every thread with their pathetic trolling
The two trolls however, TP and the other, I actually find quite offensive and laughable as they are making such a great effort to venture ‘off piste’ just to make silly noises.
The most amusing thing is that I can quite clearly see, one side smiling and chilled as they type their posts and the other, faces screwed up whilst banging away furiously at the keyboard angrily ....
Keep being chilled RL
I’m new to the brand and have recently purchased a 2013 12c coupe. In my short ownership the car has been brilliant, I find the ISG pretty good for noise it can produce, the car doesn’t seem to sound too bad on the outside either.
It’s probably not as emotive or dramatic as my previous F430 but it’s way more capable and feels twice as fast!
I’d say that it’s move involving than any 911 I’ve owned (about 6) and people absolutely love it!
Car is in for its first service (of my ownership) on Tuesday so we’ll see how that goes!
I could never have afforded to buy my car for 225k but the fact someone else did and allowed me to buy it for sub 100k is brilliant!
It would be nice to see an independent network surface over the next few years. Thorney can service, warrant and repair them (to an extent) but they’re a long way from me!
