I’ve always thought the locations are quite odd for millions of pounds worth of car sales. Just chucked in round the back of some other peoples houses...

Junior used to work for Dad and now has his own completely separate business.

Completely separate, Miles away....

Well, a few yards as the crow flies.

Thanks for the info

Suggests a rivalry as a result of a spectacular falling out!

Interesting the post above about their respective personalities....

I thought it was more that Jnr wanted to specialise in older classics.

Interesting Google earth pic. You can see the bridge in the lake they use for their 'arty' pics.

Errrrr, what a vile thing to say - they’ve built a fantastic business over many, many years.
Not that many people have done that successfully in their business.
Most come and go.

There was no fall out between the Hartley's and they are not "travellers" either. They are pictured together all the time and have all worked very hard to build the business's

Carl still works with Tom senior specialising in modern sports/supercars and Tom Jnr is based very close by concentrating on classics and specialist cars.

Something like a road-legal converted P1 GTR is just odd.Mclaren went to the trouble of additional time and development, modifying the road car into a track-only special...which is then converted to road legal for owners who (in many cases) may already be P1 owners anyway!
yet the irony is that the road legal gtr lm is more capable than the track only gtr!

I've read all their Twitter accounts , TH snr sings the praises of The Carlo or whatever he calls his partner / CEO that paticular day a lot of the time , but very very rarely mentions TH jnr.

They are certainly not pictured together all the time either.

I cannot imagine a business splitting the way it has , without any conflict or falling out in some way to be honest , competing against each other now regardless of what picture is painted.

On first viewing it would appear both businesses are successful and no doubt down to hard work , but I'm not privy to any of their financial dealings so wouldn't be aware of the truth.

Best of luck to both businesses.

Looking at the Previously Sold section of THJ's website he really has flogged some really amazing cars.

Ex Schumacher/Barrichello 2002 F1 eek

Plus he got the delivery mileage F1 a while back.

If I had to choose 1 car from his current stock, I think I'll plump for

Just a gorgeous thing!

If it wasn't for the unnecessary display of wealth courtesy of some very "questionable" /expensive wrought iron gates, you could easily drive past THs place if you didn't know what you were looking for. I went to THs about 15 yrs ago before the creation of the super showroom and new paddling pool he parks his cars in (or is it on?)& even then it was an impressive place. I admire the guys as they clearly must know what they're doing as they've outlasted many other super car "specialists" through recent recessions.

Back on topic, the Lark P1 looks a great car & I've watched it being driven on the road (via YouTube).

It's a bit weird how THJ puts POA on his website but freely shows prices here

On Autotrader you have to list a price to advertise, you can't list as POA

More odd that he even bothers with autotrader. Who would even look there for cars such as this?

£225K for that Defender is laughable even if it was in a Bond film.

Dino at £375K. I drove a RHD one with 20K miles through France a good few years ago. Wonder what that would command now. Think the owner paid about £60K for it originally.
