^ I'm planning on meeting at Parks aswell now, staying over the night before to save the full drive down to Liverpool on the morning.

John, that looks great. Really like that spoiler. I never realised you have came from a 458, how are you finding the change?

Yes, had 2 California’s and a then a 458 Spider. Got a good price for my 458 never intended to sell just when the offer from a main dealer came in was ready for a change plus the 4 year Ferrari warranty only had a few months left so I sold it. I then Purchased a Jaguar F type awd type R but after around 9 months just wasn’t feeling it. Read all your reports on your 540c though sounds like a plan had a test drive and was hooked. In comparison it feels just as quick as the 458 no where near the same amount of noise, the ride I would say is a lot better in the Mclaren. Plus I got a 2 year Mclaren warranty.

I just need to get out in it more .

Incredible write up! Picking up mine when the lockdown finally allows.

I am guessing the Isle of Man trip will have been cancelled completely now though will it? frown

Unfortunately yes it has been cancelled/postponed. Hopefully once this all blows over the new dates will fit my work rota.

I've only had the car out once in the last six weeks for a clean and wax. Can't wait to get it back out for a run

How did your Cali compare to the 540c?

On paper the McLaren seems the better car (I haven't driven it yet) but the Cali feels so capable.... And that noise is something else!

I have had two California’s the first one a 2011 pale blue one was an absolute nightmare I had issue after issue so much so that after 6 months the dealer did a deal with me on a 2012 Rosso corsa one. That one was loaded to the hilt with carbon extras and even had carbon seats.
Only reason I traded that was for a 458 spider I had no issues at all with that California or my 458 spider.

The Mclaren 540c is a much more driver focused car in my opinion than the California.
The noise is very good on both the Cali and the 458. As for value for money my old 2011 Cali is now up for sale on the autotrader at circa £82K. Considering what I paid for my 2016 540C there is really no comparison on value for money. I do miss being able to lower the roof but apart from that I love everything about my Mclaren 540C.
Don’t believe some comments you hear on the California not being a true Ferrari, they certainly feel quick and make a fantastic noise.

Thanks for the insight. I drew the same conclusion about the cali.. it still sounds and feels like a pure blood Ferrari.

But if McLaren is as good as everyone says, it's worth a look

Afternoon all, I thought i'd write another update to keep this thread and some McLaren positivity going! wink

As expected, due to the current C19 situation the car has had very little use and is rapidly approaching its warranty expiring. I am hoping to get it out for another good few hundred miles before the warranty is up, but I am very near to 10k miles now so can't (hopefully) see anything major on the horizon. I am planning on renewing the warranty, yes I know people think it is quite expensive, but for peace of mind I think it will be worth it. £2800 for a year I believe?

That is unless McGlasgow can't offer me a cracking deal to upgrade of course..

I've had the 540C out a few times, maybe once a month since lockdown kicked in just to keep the wheels turning and pick up some essentials. Thankfully no issues to note. I was worried it may throw up a few issues with the lack of use, but none so far I'm pleased to say. One thing I've noticed - I tend to park as far away in a car park as I can to avoid any other cars, and almost without fail when I come back to the car, someone has parked right next to me in an empty car park. It must either be to protect their car, or they find it easier parking next to a car rather than in an empty space hehe It still feels very special to be out in it, although the current climate, you can't help but feel (even moreso) self conscious in it..

I also decided to add another McLaren to the garage....

Brilliant wee bit of kit for my boys birthday, however, typical McLaren reliablility (for all the haters) one of the headlights isn't working, so it has been sent back.

I think I'll maybe try the RC 720S instead...

As soon as we get the chance, I'll get the drone/camera back out and get some more pictures, but sadly its looking more and more likely it'll be on a trip to the dealers for a service before getting out on a road trip.

Looking great there, superb. On the parking front I've noticed it always in the Aston (and TVR's) but at least it looked like a decent car so the driver would've been careful with doors etc. I just don't get why people do it though. There was a guy I knew once that pulled into an empty car park but for one solitary car, he decided to park next to it, and hit it yikes

I went to the supermarket in my 550 Maranello once, as usual parked in the deserted end of the car park as far from the entrance as was possible. Returned to my car and someone had parked his (let's be honest, it was bound to me a man) car literally about six inches from my driver's door. Had to get in the passenger side and clamber over the gear knob into the driver's seat. Bloke eating his sandwich in a nearby car thought it was hilarious.

Should have said this was in response to justin220 post with the photo of the empty car park.

Speaking of McLaren Glasgow i notice they have a 540c for sale for £75k. Looks amazing value, or perhaps it is just a sign of the times.

I think the Focus RS was parked correctly and possibly it was a way for the fellow driver to cheer to the McLaren.

In your case it's just a horrible story of stupid dumb person. One of the reason I'd never think of leaving my car on a shop car park.

I guess people maybe think they won't get a ding on their door as people who park at a distance also care about their door dings. Park nearer the door and who knows.

That was also my thoughts originally, but it's a fully covered warranty. As in, no claim limit etc.

Something simple like a gearbox fault and it would be worth iits weight in gold.

I thought that was the case but I thought that was too obvious
So why is once a C series and the other a S series ?
