Well gents,
Thanks for the input everyone has put in.
I spent some more time reading about 12c's again and I also decided to pick up the phone to John at Thorny Motorsport and he gave me some honest practical advice and costing's on parts and servicing etc and am feeling more confident with the 12c now, also dropped Jeff an email at the owners club.
I think am going to take the plunge, compare to a 430 or Gallardo its seems a better purchase.
Best sell my F type first but hopefully I be able to update by the end of the year, hoping to maybe get a decent winter buy.
I went from an F Type R to a 570S, wow!!! you wont regret it!!Thanks for the input everyone has put in.

haha I hope not , glad to hear you enjoyed the leap!
I really enjoy the F type and it makes some wonderful "man noise" and I think for the money there hard to beat for around 40k odd, but is certainly not a supercar. Am keen to get that ownership experience again and hopefully the 12C proves to be a good move

Its obvious stuff really , that any car should be inspected and in reality this will uncover the majority of underlying issues. We discussed replacement parts and the servicing costs. For example , suspension, bushes , Iris, Gearboxes, etc. Naturally he touched on the warranty they offer which seems pretty comprehensive for 2850 pa , however there was certainly no hard sell in that department.
I rang up and basically explained that I was really interested in a 12C however I had concerns over running costs, servicing and major issues. As they fix them what was his view ? how much I was prepared to pay PA for running one etc was I realistic etc we also discussed the top issues etc. He was very helpful and took a lot of time out to talk to me considering I don't even own a 12C yet.

Cheers for that
I think they’re made by AP but doubt you could buy them direct
Yes steels are AP discs. AP caliper too. To be honest I don't think the rotors are that bad, ok they are drilled so have an annoying tendency to pick up cracks but they are reasonably lasting (for oem anyway) and compared to some other oem or aftermarket rotors the cost isn't nuts I think. I would definitely use pagid pads (easy enough to find the pad numbers with a google, I don't recall them off hand) though over oem, much better pedal feel and last far longer on track. I think they’re made by AP but doubt you could buy them direct

Is it the norm to upgrade all four coners with the pagids?
My caterham needs ‘stronger’ front pads but the general consensus was to leave the rears as if they bite on too hard it all goes a bit crazy
Yes all 4, car definitely does not go crazy as I'd run mine on the pagids after frying the oem pads in 2 trackdays years ago. You'd want the longer lasting rear pads anyway as the Mclaren does like to use it's rear brakes a bit due to the lack of a limited slip diff. A well chosen £80k 12C shouldn't have so much further to fall ??
A lot of people said that at £100k.... Now people are saying the same at £80k. Worth bearing that in mind perhaps. Edited by macdeb on Wednesday 14th February 18:35

Really? I have had my 12c for over three years now, bought at 80k and last year was offered more than I paid for it despite it not being for sale, plus another enquiry when I only thought in chatting about selling for same figure. Don't class all cars the same because of bottom end prices, as they are low for a reason.
Your car must be exceptional to be offered more than what you paid 3 years ago, not the norm for sure as prices have dropped some,,,Edited by macdeb on Wednesday 14th February 18:35
