Personally I wouldn't touch a six year old car with such low mileage, and even less a 12C.

I think you'll be opening yourself up to a world of pain

If the car is like new (and this is), has full McLaren service history (including a service before I collect her) and has 2 years extended McLaren warranty (they are doing the warranty inspection next week) - what pain am I likely to suffer?

The car will be used most days so any niggles should show up pretty quickly and I will have these addressed by the main dealers (either Leeds or Manchester as I live between the two).

He'll have a comprehensive warranty so I really don't see what the problem is!?

It's a bloody car, a modern one too! Everything/anything can be sorted & all parts & software easily available.

I think if its covered by full warranty then you may be covered financially, but your car may be in the dealers more often than one that has been used more regularly.

If you speak to any of the service managers for "supercars" they all advise they are driven and not left sitting around for years.

You could be lucky and have a really good car, I used mine regularly and had no issues what so ever in 5 years of owning it, but have heard people with very low mileage having more issues.

Doesn't all this hang on the purchase price? TBH I'd be uncomfortable with the cars history, is this story actually plausible? It would have to be cheap for me because moving it on could be a nightmare, why give yourself the extra headache when there is plenty of choice available.

The purchase price is "attractive" and the car visited McLaren (Hong Kong then Manchester) annually for servicing and all updates.

Including 1 years full McLaren Warranty (I am paying the extra to extend this to 2 years), a fresh service (main dealer) and a new set of OE spec P-Zeros - the price was still in 5 figures but only just.

Original spec list was just over £204k so I have paid less than half this for a 750 mile car which I can't gripe about!

Plan to run her as a daily (unless roads are covered in salt) for a couple of years so expect to lose when I sell on but you only live once and you can't take it with you

I think this is an eminently sensible plan. You seem to be paying a keen price for a car in (presumably) mint condition with very low mileage, and with plenty of after sales backup from the McLaren warranty and recent inspection. Any questions about the car's first unconventional owner will be moot points once you've put a decent number of miles under the tyres for a couple of years, and it sounds like you're going into it eyes-open about the short term pain from any teething problems.

I'm very envious, the 12C in a subtle colour is a very handsome looking car.

Always suspected this car would age well in decent colours - looking better every year as a daily driver proposition given the way values are developing

My price paid included:

£300 warranty inspection at McLaren Manchester,

The cost of ALL work suggested by McLaren Manchester in order to issue extended warranty.

£5,500 for the cost of 1 years full McLaren extended warranty. Apparently once lapsed the cost increases for year 1 (hence £5k+) but drops back to the "normal" cost from year 2 onwards, Once lapsed your can only take out 1 year to start then buy in 2 year tranches from year 2.

£1,500 for a full service carried out by McLaren Manchester.

Circa £1,000 for a brand new set of MC1 spec P-Zero tyres (I may change these to Michelin MPSS of the new Pilot Sport 4 if it doesn't void the warranty as tyre technology has moved on a lot since the MC1 was designed in 2011).

All of the above is booked in with McLaren Manchester for next week.

Not a bad deal overall then!

So you basically have a brand new car with more than a 50% discount - fairplay to you.
Sadly I can see a McLaren bashing thread now saying 50% discounts available sleep
