My 12C is looked after by McLaren Manchester and their communications are excellent in my experience.

Car is currently there for a service and Soft Close Door latches fitting.

I get updates each morning and evening by email of progress and I can't fault Sam and the team.

As a fan of McLaren cars and with a 570s itch to scratch when I come to changing cars next time round this thread would certainly make me think twice, it just looks like the service capacity can't keep up with the sales they are pushing out...seems short term focus for potential long term problems that could really hurt the brand. I hope they get their act together.

I'm looking at getting one soon too, certainly making me look more at other options.

For something that a good pit crew will do in well under 60 seconds - or indeed change the rotor as well in that time!

Assuming the problem with your car is a warranty issue, what have you been given to use whilst you 570 is being sorted?

Nothing at all , which doesn’t bother me ,
also forgot they also just noticed corrosion on pipes behind passenger rad, yet they won’t check other side which imho is mad as if one side has it possibility of other side would be high too

That would make my blood boil if I'd bought a car then didn't have it for the summer...can't believe they didn't give you a like for like courtesy car....

So, how much has that cost you to not have your car?

I couldn’t get my head round being offered a Volvo by Mclaren Assistance for my 570S.
I waited until the dealer could put me in another Mclaren. I had another long conversation with Customer Relations at the end of last week regarding the level of courtesy car offered whilst the beloved Mclaren is being seen to. Sat in traffic, i was thinking that perhaps if i had dug deeper in my pocket and bought a 720 or sold the house moved into a tent and bought a P1 rather than my entry level 570 maybe Mclaren Automotive might deem me important enough to bring out something a bit more comparable to what i was driving as a replacement.
I was told by the Relations employee that no matter what Mclaren i was driving the level of courtesy car delivered by Enterprise would be exactly the same! So a breakdown in a P1 would lead to a recovery and the usual expected replacement offered would be a 4 door diesel saloon such as BMW 5 series or E Class. Mclaren will not pay any extra to upgrade(BIG)full stop..... The employee did say though the Mclaren are aware that its customers expectations aren’t being met and possibly at some stage in the future changing their policy so a more comparable 2 door 2 seater sports coupe could be offered. In the mean time they are going to advise their dealers to make new customers aware that if they need to recover their prospective purchase back to the dealer then the level of loan car that Mclaren supply would be as mentioned above. I did say that in my opinion this wouldn’t be great advice, if my dealer would have told me this on handover i would have left it parked in the showroom and driven home gutted but with the right decision made. From previous experience with other brands surely my expectations now being a Mclaren owner aren’t unrealalistic?
I picked up my loan car on Saturday, looked around the showroom at the 720’s and other 570’s as well as a 675LT and there’s no doubt they are truly amazing machines. My loan car drives fantastic and i just love these cars BUT there are other options in the market place that would tick ALL the boxes and Mclaren can’t think that people will continue to put up with them just because they look and drive the way they do and are British. They have to be the complete package to compete.

Many, many years ago, some accountants at Vauxhall on one particular production line calculated that the cost of their quality control was > the cost of fixing the issues that they spotted and corrected.

So they ditched the quality control to increase profits.

In time, the customers ditched them because of the quality of their product.

The accountants went and got some quality control people again.

I have to laugh because I recently bumped into a P1 in the pub car park and the lovely chap driving it shared many of your frustrations. What a beast though.......

Many, including lots on here, have already ventured into McLaren ownership and left. I suspect/hope many will return if/when they get this st shorted.

I wouldn’t expect that from McClaren, when my Porsche 991.2 4s developed a rattle recently my OPC gave me a 911 loan car, then when my macan gts went in for a tyre due to a puncture , they asked me if i would prefer a macan or a 718 cayman.

I actually considered a 570s when I ordered the 911, reading this thread I’m glad I didn’t select a McClaren at this time.

But putting the poor service to one side they are bloody beautiful cars, I’m a big fan of the look of the 12c, and now they can be bought for around 90k they look excellent value for money.

I feel for people on this thread. A question, what’s been the situation say with a Ferrari that has needed time at the garage, anyone with first hand experience to compare?

Wow. Ok. I'm on my 2nd McLaren, will be on my 3rd later this year (12c, 650, 720). No issues over 4 years expert for minor niggles. Ascot McLaren are ste , All other dealerships do a better job of service. I did have corrosion on a front wing. They ordered a new wing and had mine replaced when it arrived. Easy.

Warranty is not 5k it's 3.7k. Unlike a Ferrari power warranty (2k) it covers everything. There is a an Indy warranty option that I will likely go for soon.- that's 2.8k and is from thorney- a well respected Indy.

I own Ferraris too and my 355 has cost a lot more than my McLaren over 3 years.

There seems to be a snow balling of McLaren criticism and it's mostly not accurate.

When I’ve had a Ferrari go back in, always been put in another Ferrari, last experience with them had a California when a 458 went back. Porsche very similar through experience. Range Rover’s go wrong but they always bring another out. BMW wouldn’t put you in a Corsa that’s for sure.
I know that due to the size of Mclaren Automotive there aren’t going to be cars stock piled waiting to be brought out but surely the minimum level of replacement a customer could expect would be a 991 Carrera S, Merc E63 Coupe, Audi R8 ? Something of similar elk would soften the blow and keep people on side. Not being in the a Mclaren you have paid for is always going a disaster but I didn’t for one minute think I needed to ask these questions. With previous experience just assumed there would be decent back up, i know a 570 isn’t 488 money but its still a shed load of cash.

Plenty to indicate that it is accurate. Look at the level of complaint regarding quality issues, paint issues, crap service, slow response etc relative to the overall volume of cars produced and it’s a shocking picture. It’s not just this thread.

I’m not surprised they are only offering volvos as courtesy cars considering how many cars the network seems to be getting back for remedial work.

I bought a brand new 650s a couple of years ago and the air con packed up repeatedly and the passenger footwell filled up with water every time it rained (with the roof up just to be clear!). Despite the car being with them for a few weeks, that issue was never really resolved properly and I was glad to be rid of it last summer. A couple of people on here have mentioned being relieved to be out of it and that pretty much sums it up for me too.

Extended warranty on a 650S is 3980+VAT = 4776 (my post says 4700). Everything I have posted, critical and positive, is accurate.
