From what I can see mcl570 and TP321 are both equally blinkered. It's just that they are coming from opposite ends of the argument. The truth is somewhere in the middle of their wildly differing opinions.
Look, I can not help the fact I am in love with my 570S - I am one of the lucky ones, I have had few issues, and when an issue has occurred, my local dealer has looked after me very well. I am fortunate enough to have spec'd a 600LT for next year, and I am sure that the LT will not be my last McLaren.

I am not oblivious to the issues that others are having with their cars, and I am not oblivious of the depreciation.. my 570s is going to be very painful when I come to part exchange it for the LT.

It just makes me laugh when other owners from other brands are actually taking time out of their day to plaster negative comments on McLaren Forums in regards to residuals etc.. surely I cant be the only one who buys cars to enjoy the car for the drive.... rather than buying something I don't like, but where my money will be safe??

Surely what damages the McL brand are the comments on their experience from McL owners?

The later type of posters just need to be ignored, simple as that.

Some factual data rather than TP321’s rash comments.

Agreed, but seriously, does this place really need a Total Pratt?

I'm all for a discussion with like minded people but he's just an idiot, can you imagine being at a car meet & having this pillock turning up saying "your badly built, overpriced, British pile of crap will be worthless soon" !?

Truth his, he wouldn't, he'd just drive home in his Nova & start typing frantically on here.

AS a non interested Porsche driver .... as I see it the Mclarens as cars are a step ahead the 702 S and 600LT are genius ..... but in a world where many are bought as investments , maybe the driving. is not that important

Not sure how to take that!?

It's either an insult or a compliment.

I'll go with compliment as I'm a positive kind of guy smile

That's the thing, I don't think anybody really buys a standard production McLaren thinking it's an investment, history tells us all that'll never happen. The P1, Senna and 675lt were different because they were limited production runs.

You only have to read the Porsche forums to see that Posche and McLaren are really not that different on that front IMHO.

just because it drops in value does not make it a bad car.
I have actually never once said it’s a bad car...

It’s simply too financially painful to own.

Fact.

Not 'Fact', just opinion.

You simply can't speak for others with such a general claim. Too financially painful for some maybe, but not everybody.

Here goes;

Agreed, but seriously, does this place really need a Troublesome Poster?

Truth his, he wouldn't, he'd just go home (not sure how as he's never shared with us if he even owns a car) & start typing frantically on here.

Better???

Just received this e mail from McLaren Manchester:

Serious question.

Is this a good deal or am I buying a car ready to plummet in value if a dealer is prepared to knock off £40k on a new car? I currently have a GT3 Touring and was looking to try and get a new GT3RS to go with it but this 570GT seems unbelievable value with £40k contribution.

I'm not trying to start another values and depreciation thread just wanting some knowledgeable advice as I know very little about McLaren's. Is this car a good spec or is it missing things that it really needs?

It simply means that they can’t sell it at list price. Which in turn means that the list price is not supported by the market. So if you want one, at least you are side stepping some serious depreciation, but you are buying a car with very weak demand.

I have seen them do this with the previous Bentley Continental - list price £185k with spec, now £145k. Always cars they had from stock or had to stock for they manufacturers discount.

I am guessing this is what is happening here with this one.

No multiple laughing emoji's, no goading & no 'I told you so'...

It really isn't that difficult, It's a succinct & well balanced post.

I also agree with what you've said.
