some new benchmarks for a stock 720s (aside from switching the tyres to road legal toyos)
0-60mph 2.39
0-100mph 4.9
0-150mph 10.36
this is quicker 0.60 than the 1500bhp chirons official time
still can't get over how fast this car is!

If those figures are reliable then the "Is it quicker than a P1?" debate is pretty much done.some new benchmarks for a stock 720s (aside from switching the tyres to road legal toyos)

I'd be amazed if you can shave a whole half-second of McLarens official 0-60 time just by swapping to a toyo tyre. If that was the case, McLaren would have done it.

Those tyres are quite specialist manufacturer states "Caution: Recommended for competition events only"I'd be amazed if you can shave a whole half-second of McLarens official 0-60 time just by swapping to a toyo tyre. If that was the case, McLaren would have done it.
Motortrend tested at 0-60mph in 2.5s
Road & track tested at 0-100mph in 5.1s and 0-150mph in 10.2s
So the numbers look achievable with a bit more grip and of course a tank of decent fuel to liberate all 740 horses,,,,,

he's an honest guy, the car is completely standard and those are vbox times (worth noting that some tuned 720's struggle to get better times than standard cars from a standstill because of grip)he has done many runs and that was his best on fresh toyo tyres
apparently a couple of others have done slightly better 1/4 mile times with stock cars although i'm not sure on the specific 0-xxxmph times

Not really. You can't seriously be comparing drag strip (fairly often with prepped surfaces) times to official factory times. Now if a chiron and P1 turned up with that 720 on the same day and got pasted maybe. Not otherwise....
That's a fair point but there did seem to be some smudging about comparable performance between the 2 cars when the 720 came out, I don't think McLaren were overly keen on running them side by side.Do you have a P1 Is? I've driven thousands of miles in a 720 so I'm the perfect person to do the comparison, just pop it round at the weekend!

They just sound so bland. I'd have one if I could get it sound fantastic.
I'm not sure they can win on this one. I don't think they are aiming at the likes of Lambo where the cars are loud, popping and farting as they cruise round (at least that is all I ever see them doing) I think they are more trying to emulate Porsche (turbo 911s) certainly the 720 is an incredible daily driver spectacularly useable but if it had an obnoxious exhaust this would not be the case. One of the problems is the UK/Euro exhausts (both standard and sport) come with valves which really mute the sound, I have a Quicksliver cat back (straight through) and and extremely happy with the sound quality and levels.
Funny noone says the 991 GT2RS sounds bland because presumably they are comparing it to normal Porsche turbos but reality is it is bland.
I think I saw you commenting on another thread about your exhaust.
You're totally happy with it? Has made a significant difference? Sound level? Any pops and bangs?
Any insight would be appreciated. It really is the only thing stopping me getting a 720S. Noise is an important factor for me, from my TVR days to Lamborghini's now

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6Rug1PWtV8the Chiron has been there on the same day and struggles to get its power down, as you'll see if you watch the video it seems a bit of strategy is involved !

The noise levels are perfect for me there is a nice subtle extra vibration through the whole car, they have this anyway but now its 20% more, gives it a very slightly rawer feel which I really like. There is no annoying resonance which is very important for me. It isn't loud like those Lambos tho', I'm not sure turbo motors can ever sound like that but revving it out it is plenty loud enough, really screams. You're totally happy with it? Mine will sometimes pop if getting on it or snapping back down through the gears but in normal cruising/driving it doesn't, it suits me but maybe will be too quiet if you like proper drama.
I think cat deletes or 100/200 cell cats would be needed as the 4 650 cell cats really iron out the majority of pops and bangs but of course this would not be warranty friendly.
Here's a crappy vid we did when I had the Quicksilver installed

GT2RS sounds totally different to the TTS which is rather Dyson. In a deep bass purposeful throbbing kind of way.
Haven't driven a 720 but the GT2 RS sounds way better than a stock 570.
