I thought mclarens were less mileage sensitive than other top end cars? though understably a like for like car with more miles will always be worth less, the question is how much and in the case of this one the market hasn't answered yet. However looking at the PH classifieds, all the cars below 190ish are either older lower spec or launch cars and given the 2020 model year cars will be launched in a few months and the other brexit/winter etc related headaches, why is it such a surprise that some aren't moving?

Everything is blow9ng didn’t matter the brand or model , it’s down to time of year and Brett uncertainty, hopefully it will come right for summer (ihope)
Bang on with this! - so many high end sportscars have been up for sale since the summer with very little reduction in their prices - at the least this McL seller is attempting to move his car on ..smile

That’s not strictly true, not EVERYTING,991.2 GT3RS are still selling well at £200k plus, which is some £40k over list. There is also very limited supply of these cars! What helps the brand is sensible bi annual servicing, cheap warranties after the end of manufactures warranty and a realistic price starting point!

I’m watching Macs with interest but as I’m not a Rockstar I’ve decided to be patient as I simply don’t want to blow £50K for a few thousand miles of fun. Good luck to those that can afford that level of loss but I can’t and don’t want to!

It’s not all doom and gloom as below.

Yes it would be great if McLaren said to its dealers you are only getting four 720S this year along with only two 740LT's I would imagine they would also trade for a while at overs just like the Halo Porsche models do.

Lets see how Porsche dealers do if they were allocated ten GT cars a month and the production cycle was the same as the non GT cars !

Any way another McLaren thread dragged off topic onto Porsche yet again shoot

Maclaren would need to sell a SUV and a saloon , to be able to do that . Strange world that " rarity" and "Investment potential " are words heard not the dynamic capabilities of the car .
The 720 S is on another level of performance and design to my RS , but that seems of little importance

No I hear you and I’m with you on the performance capabilities,I just don’t want my car ownership to be a redicuously painful and expensive disaster hence still being a lurker getmecoat

I reckon £160k is the sweet spot for it.

It's purely the mileage on it but if there's someone who won't be doing mega miles in it, it wouldn't be a bad shout.
For sale for 4 months and reduced by what? £30k? That's 100% a loss no matter what for them.
Unless of course it's a SOR and the owner is getting annoyed at the lack of interest.

Jeeze if you are the owner and it is SOR you’ve done £30k in a few months without even using it,that’s scary!!!

Got to be a reasonable buy soon!

It's either that or McLaren managed to buy it for £150k or something back in October which I very much doubt.

I doubt that an owner would have let a car go for £150k back then so guess it’s the dealers loss, also doubt SOR as I would have thought the customer would have taken it back and the dealer wouldn’t want to have it sitting on his front highlighting poor sales movement. Surely there has to be a price that makes it unavoidable value though!

Two things put me off McLaren, I don't think they have the support network in place to service the amount of cars they are churning out and I ain't that keen on the looks, no doubt it drives way better than my rather agricultural Gallardo. However, if I could get a 720s - in a decent spec - for the 150-160K mark then I don't think I would lose too much on it even if I used it excessively. I think that around about that price it's done most of it's depreciation or at least it will slow down even with a lot of miles on it. The price of a 650s would have to drop considerably for me to lose my shirt on it.

^^ I remember when everyone said the 12c would bottom out at 100k and look where they are now !

I've no axe to grind against McL or the market in general but can't help feel there is more to come off this segment.

I very very nearly bought the Memphis red at Leeds for 198000 awesome spec 1800 on clock and was given an amazing part exchange on my 570 however I thought in 2 years time it’s gonna blow 40-60k which is too much for me , there epic cars but the resale value is the ultimate killer

Supremely uninteresting video, but as I FF towards the end, heard the comments this gent (who apparently drag races his 720s regularly) had about its reliability. At about 8:48.

I nearly did the same thing with a 18 plate same money white with 1000 on the clock with fantastic spec but came to the same conclusion 40k in 18 months is to much for me how ever much I love the cars, the servicing was a big part as well nearest to me 300 mile round trip and wanted it for 3 days, would have to buy a warranty after the 18 months so as to sell said would be £6000.
