Rybrook Brum, amazing service
Discussion
There seems to be far to many negative posts about McLaren ownership, and not enough positive post in my view. My ownership started off a little rocky I can’t lie, but this was sorted very fast and I can’t fault the brand or Rybrook Birmingham at all. Maybe it’s time people started posting about the positive side of owning one of, if not the best supercars around. People seem to forget the amount of time this company have been producing road cars. It’s come a very long way In a very short time, if the past 6 years are anything to go by, then I’m very keen to see what they will be producing in another 6 years time.
Must admit, I've been very impressed with Rybrook also. Ended up rejecting a car after 3 mths of it being in and out of the workshop from purchase. Thought it would be a bit of an uphill battle but they handled it very professionally. In the end the whole experience cost me £600 and a bit of time and inconvenience. They even refunded the transfer fees for a private plate. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Thanks for sharing OP - nice to hear some good news on the brand and the dealer network for a change. I’m looking to move into a 570S spider early next year and the negative news flow keeps making me question the choice. I would have thought it should be a relative no brainer for dropping ~£150k on a mid-engined 2-seater convertible but evidently not! Still, first world problems and all.

Where in the UK are you, that seams to have a big bearing on owners experiences. Speaking with the new Leeds dealership principle a week or so ago and he was buoyant about servicing capacity for example. Offering a quick turnaround which will only improve as they get established and build-out their new dealership.
I honestly don’t think there’s a better car out there for the same sort of money, that looks as good, and drives as well. These are amazing cars for the price. Yes some of the dealers struggle with customer care, but is that the brands fault? I think most customer Aftersales are poor in almost all brands, it’s all about building a relationship with your dealer and working from there, I find the more you interact and work with them, the more they will help if it’s possible.

I live a couple of miles away from McL HQ in Surrey but work in London so my obvious choices are Ascot and Knightsbridge (who I think operate together anyway). They prioritise cars that they have sold from a service / aftercare perspective vs. cars local people have purchased from other dealerships so it probably makes sense for me to start a relationship with them from the outset. Here’s hoping for a positive experience in due course but at least I’ll be going in eyes wide open. Rybrook Bristol also prefers to support local customers, which seems to make good, long term, sense. They were nothing but brilliant through initial interest, test drives, purchase, servicing and warranty. I'd recommend them without hesitation.
The car is also fantastic (570GT). I'm a very happy owner and delighted it's got so much British content. With Aston about to raise squillions from an IPO and Lotus having access to Geely's funds we could be on the verge of a purple patch for UK sports cars...well, here's hoping.
