You tubers need to get clicks, so they are always going to create a post to achieve that aim. Its unlikely to be a reliable view. Also they are there because they crave the attention, not because they are great at providing a well thought out review.

There are some exceptions, Harry of Harrys Garage seems to give real-world reviews.

But it does seem to me that if you spend a shed load on a car it really ought to be perfect.

So when it isn't I think its right post about it. If I had a McLaren and it was off the road for weeks because the service couldn't fix it, I would be making a fuss as loud as I could. If the service centre were not listening I would vent my frustration to my mates and on a forum.

If it worked perfectly then I wouldn't bother mentioning it as that's what I would expect it to be.

Are you upset because the bad news is affecting your cars value smile
see my quote from the post above - 'I bloody love my 570S, and yes It has depreciated like all other cars.. but who cares.. it puts a smile on my face! My mrs costs me less per month but she doesn't make me as happy LOL'

so no, I am not upset that it has effected my cars value, I know I have lost a lot of money.. but the depreciation is softened by the pure pleasure/enjoyment i get when i drive the car. And also, the depreciation is softened with the awesome service i receive from my local dealer (Great coffee, great guys up there), and also the events they put on for me smile

ditto, but if i pay for something and dont get what i was expecting im going to complain,
my AP has spent 8 months of the last 24 in the shop being repaired.
I suppose what I'm getting at is that I believe that there's no 'level'

If I get an undercooked cheeseburger at McDonald's, I complain.
If I bought a cheap Kia & it kept breaking down & the paint started peeling, I'd complain.

I've never got this idea that we expect products or services to have no/less issues just coz they cost more!

Rybrooks in Hockley Heath, both sales and after service so far have been impeccable. I am delighted with my first few months despite the small niggles.

As the last post says, it puts a huge smile on my face every time I press the button and get on the road its awesome!!
Many thanks! If only I still lived in Warwickshire!

Hoping some folks will be along soon enough to speak of positive experiences with McAscot and McLondon.

Hi All,

I have been reading over the posts for the last month or so, and it is clear that some owners are experiencing problems with their cars ( I am also!)… but why do people feel the need to slate the brand? People are quick enough to post about their bad experiences, but they never post about their positive experiences? For me, all of these supercars have their issues (having previously owned a 458)… for me, it is how the brand/dealer reacts to solving the problem??? I can only praise my local dealer, they have been fantastic with any issues that I have incurred!

It really does frustrate me when McLaren are offering their services/loaning cars to these 'youtubers', only for the 'youtubers' to slag the brand off. I will put a name out there... TGE... was given an early 720s, only to slate the car and sell it on within a couple of weeks. All you see now is himself slagging off the brand, I did see one of his posts on another 'vloggers' post last night. I must make an exception for Shmee and JWW though.. they have great content.

As a customer, I want the brand to excel.. it just worries me that the negative comments may put off any potential customers. If anyone reads this is considering a McLaren then honestly, don't be put off. There was recently a trip of 17 MC'S that travelled EU, 35000 miles combined without any issues...……...

I am really new to the brand having purchased a 12 month 570S in July, it went back for warranty work in August handled really well & efficiently by the main dealer and it has to go back again next month whilst I am on holiday for another couple of little snags one being warranty and the other an alloy refurb.

Now in this short time that may sound awful 2 return visits to the dealers, but they have been great even loaned me a 570 spider during the great weather. The smiles my car puts on my face and the admiration it gets wherever I go really negates this.

I am hoping now this little niggles are done and I will carry on enjoying the car, I understand some other owners have had bad luck but as mentioned its easy to blast the whole brand, its a wonderful car makes me really happy when driving it and yes I would buy again and use the same dealer!!
JWW did a video explaining why he cancelled his 720 and I think from memory that it was due to Mclaren missing his promised delivery dates, not sure from memory that it seemed sincere but more like he realised he would drop a shed load of cash on it so backed out. Only my opinion after watching the video but please view it and make you're own decision!

Like most Mclaren owners I have had Ferrari’s & Lamborghini’s, two of the three Ferrari dealers I used were extremely poor and the Lamborghini dealer was little better.
Both my F430s had several problems & Lamborghinis had small problems but my 12c spider so far has been faultless for 5,000 miles & is a far better car in every way.

On my second Mclaren and 4 years into ownership. Both cars rock solid and a joy.. Only issue is dealers have been slow to resolve minor issues but thats the dealers and not the cars.. I use Indies now and its a breath of fresh air

Ouch, that is a real generalisation there are many of us who come from Porsche and who wouldn't be seen dead driving a Ferrari or Lambo.

Came to McLaren from Lotus and Ferrari, and I haven't had significant reliability issues with any of these cars personally.

All Lotus issues I had were self-inflicted (by after market supercharging the K series, and only affected the mod).

Early days, but the most rock solid car so far has been the McLaren.

Sorry did not mean to upset anyone but I have had Porsche’s still do have a one , however in my opinion most Porsche are not considered to be supercars , but you are probably correct that many have moved from Porsche to Mclaren.
Surprised at comment many not to be seen dead driving F or L ?

I have a 2011 MP4-12C.....so one of the earliest cars. Owned for coming up for a year and half and have added 7,000 miles in that time, including over 2,000 in one week on the recent Euro tour. Just one snag during ownership, wiper motor failure (probably due lack of use) dealt with under warranty. Car picked up on a Monday and back home Friday by McAscot.

So a rocket ship that nothing in stock form will touch for the money, great reception wherever it goes and one minor fault promptly dealt with under the extended warranty. What's not to love spin

Had my 570S Spider 6 months now from new. Had a minor issue with low steering fluid level - fixed next day by McLaren assistance and Iris radio niggles that were sorted out by updated with latest firmware. Dealer sent an engineer to my home to do this work.

Service has been good and the car as reliable as I'd expect from a brand new car. More importantly, the car is out of this world to drive and looks amazing. When I bought the car I expected that I might keep it for one year but it's so good that I'll certainly keep it for three - unless I can be tempted by a 720S!

McLaren Ascot
- 650s Spider
- owned 3 years and 10k miles
- 3 services all absolutely fine
- 1 orange EML 1 x spot of corrosion on wing - all attended to under warranty perfectly promptly and efficiently.
- No. of days car off the road = 0 (wings done over winter).

- The car is amazing and like nothing else in the way it is built as an engineering marvel - intended for one thing only, going stupidly fast incredibly well.
- Fantastic bunch of owners.
- TGE has been a tt about his 720s.
- Just because a car costs £200k doesn't mean it wont fail occasionally.
- It's actually the opposite, the items are pretty bespoke and R&D cant be equivalent to a 'white goods' BMW/MB/Audi as the market is so much smaller (Ferrari, McLaren, Lambo, Pagani, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Morgan etc.).
- We put up with more issues BECAUSE we don't want a super tuned 900BHP GTR or a 1000BHP Focus RS, we want a pretty special virtually hand built supercar and don't want to spend 4x the price for 20% more reliablity.
- I was on the previously mentioned McOwners Euro trip last week and did 2500 miles with zero issues.

I LOVE my McLaren

Puts me off when brands give free / discounted cars to social media celebrities.

I'm not paying big money for something someone else gets free.

That's what's nice about Tesla - everyone pays list.

Wading in.

I was the only 'Youtuber' to actually keep their order in, despite others around me telling to cancel - I wanted to give the brand a go. I was excited and took every chance to back the brand and the car for the brief period I had it. I used to love the brand. Other social media people cancelled theirs then spun a yarn why, or brushed the cancellation under the carpet.
Then there were the many that were refunded on their cars because they were so bad. Yep, full refunds.
Also yes, I paid for my car. No discount either. And I lost money.

The thing was shoddy, and nobody wanted to touch it when I came to shift it on. To make things worse, I nearly blew a mortgage deposit in depreciation on it in a matter of weeks.
I am entitled to say it was rubbish. Fast, but rubbish. My only offence here is perhaps being honest, when most in the social media world brown-nose every brand, to milk fancy trips out of them. I am black listed by McLaren now apparently, so no more press trips for me for the next 15 models they release in the next year. They also have 97389743 other vloggers they invite anyway. (see 600LT video deluge today LOL)

As with all cars, some good and bad eggs exist in each batch. I had a bad experience, but my personal view is that this is actually quite typical for the brand, not a one off. I won't be buying any more of their cars, not that they are fussed I'm sure. I really don't care if any of you have had enough of me bad mouthing my experience. I spent £250k on a car and it fell well below what would have happened if I had spent it with Porsche, Lambo or Ferrari.

As an aside, feel free to ask @supercarsofben on Instagram what he experienced if you fancy an eye opener.

This post is awesome there are now people out there who because of their age and lack of experience have come to expect that the current ~5 year hype (fueled by unprecedented low interest rates and growing economy) which has produced lots of new cars attracting premiums is a norm. Throw in a £250K supercar which breaks this current trend but in fact depreciates as all cars did pre hype and all his toys are out of the pram and he nearly blew his mortgage deposit hehe
The world has truly gone mad and I am an old
